NICOLAS "NICO" LEOPHONTE

I was born in SOUTHERN FRANCE (PERPIGNAN). After 28 years there, I decided to move to the U.S. I landed in Austin, Texas, in 1998. I've been there ever since and I'm lovin' it ! I decided to leave my country of origin to pursue a dream: I've been playing drums since I was 15 years old, and always wanted to play with American bands. Since 1998, I've been playing with a lot of different artists around the world. I've been lucky to play with some of my biggest Blues heroes, such as Bo Diddley, W.C. Clark, Hubert Sumlin', Pinetop Perkins, Lazy Lester, Malford Miligan, and Mike Cross. I've always been a great fan of guitar players like Hendrix, B.B. King, Freddy King, Albert Collins, etc ... and I think I've been very fortunate to play with some of the best guitar players in Texas, such as Derek O'Brien, Chris Duarte, Van Wilks, Hadden Sayers, Alan Haynes, David Grissom, Stephen Bruton, Tommy Shannon, Roscoe Beck, Gary Craft, Kenny Grimes, Shawn Pittman, Gary Clark Jr., Bob Feldman, and Phil Brown. Today, I have the pleasure of playing with Hal Ketchum (71st member of the Nashville Grand Ole Opry) with a great band from Austin, including Kenny Grimes on guitar and the great Keith Carper on bass. Besides touring with Hal Ketchum, I still play various gigs with "The Antone's House Band", Alan Haynes, Hadden Sayers, Shawn Pittman and other local and national touring bands.I also do studio sessions around the Austin area and at my own studio The Lo-Co Studio.
