Obviously, my Tea-Chest Bass playing is a major interest. I can be found at the Goodmanham Arms, at Goodmanham, just outside Market Weighton, on the first Friday of the month for folk music nights and on the third Thursday of the month for blues and jazz nights. These nights are informal get-togethers and all are welcome to bring an instrument. The folk nights see several accordianists/ squeezebox/ melodians etc, violins, a banjo and various other things to hit, bash and blow, while the blues/jazz nights sees a variety of guitars, such as metal bodied, 12 string and classical, harmonica, and occasionally a drummer and keyboard.I am also involved with Market Weighton's community radio station, Vixen 87. I write and maintain the website, train new presenters and present my own shows. Because we currently operate under a Restricted Service Licence, we are only allowed on air for 2 x 28 day periods per year. The last broadcast in November/December 2007, I presented Mondays & Wednesdays Late Show 9.00pm - midnight and co-presented the Sunday morning show 9.00am - noon. Since going off-air, we have been awarded a 5-year community radio licence, which we hope will start early 2009. Oh, and I like beer, too.
Anyone who would like to utilise the services of a Tea-Chest Bass player!
Most rock music from 60s to present. Can't stand today's modern 'pop' music. Pap, more like. Can't get enough blues music, and enjoy playing the tea chest for both the folkies and the bluesies.
Don't watch much TV, but enjoy the motoring programmes such as Top Gear. Apart from that, I tend to watch the History Channel.
I never read fiction. I am an avid reader of all sorts of other genres though. I Like reading Bill Bryson, Tim Moore and Tony Hawkes. I also read lots of auto/biographies and books about language etc.
