About Me

I have lived in District 29 since 1979, and am a native Tucsonan. The last name PUIG is Spanish, and goes back to Barcelona, Spain. There is a perfume company owned by Aualavanda, as well as many store in Barcelona with the Puig name. My family in Tucson goes as far back as 1842 when my great-grandfather Robert Aeoxopolous (this is Greek, so spelling may be wrong) arrived in Boston from Athens, Greece. He was twelve years when he came to this country (alone), fought in the civil war, and later married a native Francisca, Sinohui. My mother still has a copy of his pension from the civil war. (well, have Greek ancestry) I have been a Nursing Assistant since 1993, and graduated as a Pharmacy Technician in 1997 (but, my father was a Registered Pharmacist, 1950, the first graduating class at the University of Arizona. His family was from Jalisco and D.F. His sister retired in 1991. She worked with Manolo Fabregas in Mexico, D. F. ) I am also attending classes at Pima Community College for my Associate's (and later Bachelor's) degree in Political Science. I am a Democrat running for State Representative because I would like to make a difference by fighting harder. In 2006,we did pick up some seats in Congress(2) and one or two in the Legislature. We are also confident that we will pick up a few more seats in Congress this year. That is great. But, the fight is not over. It never will be, because when we stop we will regress again and have another uphill battle. That is why we need to be active voters and keep informned in every way possible, not just with the television. As soon as this election ended, the Republicans got busy at trying to change things around.Republicans never rest, and neither should we. Republicans will not miss an election. They vote religiously. If more Democrats would vote religiously, WE COULD WIN EVEN MORE ISSUES and SEATS. When I was 18, they had just changed the voting age to 18. It was 21 before (it was changed because if you were 18, you could be drafted or put in jail.). At one time women and minorities were not allowed to vote. This is why I get fustrated when people do not wanna vote. It was not always a given right. Generations before had to fight for that right (including mine, for the 18 year old vote). I think it is unfortunate about Senator Kennedy and am hoping for the very best for him. However we have to stand up and fight and help carry the torch. Teddy Kennedy and Cesar are two good examples of why we must we must stay tuned in to what is going on. They will obviously not be around for our whole life, although i have hopes for Senator Kennedy. Another one of my issues is animal cruelty/neglect/fighting. How can you do this to another. Is this the way you treat humans? Many of them do. One of the persons that was involved in an animal fighting ring in Tucson, was also involved in Child Pornography? Is that respect for Human Life? A lot of this reflects back on how Humans are treated AND possibly other crimes as well.

My Interests

Remember those who are less fortunate than us. Our earthly friends and those who cannot be with their loved ones, and also those who have less than us. I love to go on bike rides
Courtesy of SparkleTags.com and spend time with Pepito and Dionysis. (Dionysis is greek and means the god of wine, festivity and maddness.) Pepito is our refugee Chihuahua that Coco and Dionysis found when he crawled under the fence. While we were happy to welcome Pepito into the family we were unfortunate to loose Coco. (I fought hard to save him).I would love to learn to speak Greek, or better go to Greece. I have been trying hard to learn Greek. It's such a cool language. But it is hard. I am not gonna give up. I wanna go back to visit in Mexico, D.F. It would be nice to see my cousins and aunts again and be on of the millions that visit the Basilica of Guadalupe on the 12th of December.

I'd like to meet:

We all have something to offer that we can make something positive out of. But, I cannot go on without remembering my Nana Bea. She and Tito Flores (and all the family) were there for us and for my dad. I cannot properly express the gratitude and kindness they showed all of us. Thankyou is not enough. (She was 99.)May they rest in peace.

Music:

"Boxer Wonderland". I added this remembering Coco.

Movies:

March of the Penguins.

Television:

Hardball with Chris Matthews, a href="http://pho

Books:

Thousands (if not millions) of books are written annually but, there is not a book that is as great as the bible.

Heroes:

None but my favorite athlete that shouldn't be forgotten (and many people do not know about) is Abibi Bakila (Not sure of the spelling). He was a marathon runner from Ethiopia that won in the 1960 and 1964 Olympics. He won it barefoot in 1960 and agreed to wear shoes in 1964. He was in a car accident, went to the 1968 Olympics in a wheelchair and died in 1969. But, my real heroine is celebrated on December 11th (her day is December 12th). Her story is so sweet. Not only does this remind me of the stray dogs in Mexico and the United States but I hope that she is watching after my boxer (Coco) that died November 13th. Add to My Profile | More Videos

My Blog

Animal Fighting

Should this really be classified as cruelty to animals, or should we have a category for animal MURDER?
