About Me

I’m just an average guy with an overactive imagination who likes to make up stories and write them down. At heart, I’m a philosopher. In fact, I studied political philosophy in college and hold a B.A. from Iowa State University in Political Science. But since the job market for philosophers is thin these days, I’ve taken to writing something people will actually enjoy reading. Fiction. My first novel, Losing Latitude , is being released as a serial (5 parts, one part at a time), and can be purchased for under five dollars.
About Losing Latitude :
When teenager Lilly North survives a shipwreck that claimed the lives of her parents, she seeks to find the cause of the accident in the pages of a mysterious young fugitive’s handwritten journal.
What follows is the story of Buck McGee, an Iowa farm boy who is wanted for his father’s murder. While Lilly heals her wounds in a Naval hospital and mourns the loss of her family, she searches the pages of Buck’s journal for clues as to why a prudent sea captain like her father would have turned their family yacht into an approaching storm.
But as Buck’s story grows more and more bizarre, including accounts of demons, magic and voodoo, and when the government gets word of what Lilly’s father was up to before his unfortunate demise, Lilly will get more answers than she ever bargained for, putting both her—and everyone who comes in contact with her—in grave danger.
Hopefully that’s enough to convince you to give Losing Latitude a try. Remember, Part 1: Death, Dads, and Demons is only $4.67, so you’re not out much if it isn’t up your alley.
If you would like to sample some of my short fiction, my story Backseat Driver recently found it's way into publication. Check it out and let me know what you think.
On a more personal note, if you like partying, traveling, SCUBA diving, folk music, storytelling, film-making, and overall like to enjoy life; then send me a friend request. You can see from the chumps I have as friends now that I'm not that picky with whom I hang(just kidding, just kidding).

Backpacking, SCUBA Diving, Canoeing, Biking, Drinking, Traveling...Some things you may, or may not, know about me. 1) I once received a Mexcian Cutie tattoo from an illiterate gangsta in New Orleans 2) I once had a friend push me off a 90ft. cliff. I survived. He’s still my friend. 3) I am a Libertarian, but if you google my name and Dick Cheney, you will see a picture of us shaking hands. I never knew the photo existed until my friend emailed me the link last year. 4) I was once interrogated by police detectives in a small room with a rectangular table and very large one-way mirror. They threatened to turn me into the FBI and the IRS. I told them to go ahead. Lucky for me, they didn’t. 5) I make my own wine. People say it’s evil. I say they’re stupid and they shouldn’t drink so much. 6) My wife and I are hole-mates. (Now that’s funny. I don’t care who you are.) 7) I was once the governor of 16,000 off-campus students at Iowa State University. I tried to impose my own tax on them during my reign. It didn’t go over so well, but they still got a heated bus-stop and some candy vending machines. 8) I’ve ridden my bicycle across the state of Iowa six times. (That’s more than Lance Armstrong if anyone’s counting.) 10) I attended Jerry Garcia’s last show in Solider Field along with 80,000 other people that don’t remember any of it. 11) I once had a stalker. They suck.
