Influences: Jamaican Sound System Culture and all its derivitive scenes; roots, ska, dub, dancehall, hip hop, jungle, garage, grime and turntablism. The 60's and 70's era funk, soul and rare groove scenes. 80's hip hop, freestyle, breakbeat and electro. Chicago House/Detroit Ghettotech is back in large part thanks to Hollertronix. In the past decade I've seen fusion of almost every world music and a lot of it has been beautiful. Afrobeat and brazilian carnival music are both great for the soul. Big shout to the 6 degrees record label for their many contributions (Karsh Kale, Midival Punditz, Ekova), Ninja Tune Records should get a Noble Peace Prize (Big Ups to Scruff & Roots on Big Dada), Tru Thoughts in England is bringing funk in a huge way, to the Junglist Massive- Nuff Respect. Hallucination Records in Florida and all the Dj's that made Florida Breaks what it was to the heads that were dancin. Right now, were playing a lot of G-stone cuts. Shouts to man like Stereotyp and Al-haca Sound. Modselektor and Jahcoozi are doin it!. Some other artists close to heart for many of us have been Coltrane, Stevie, Bjork, Nightmares on Wax, Leftfield, Ahficiandos, Camp Lo, The Angel. Roni Size, Dj Funk, Frankie Paul, I-wayne, Dj Assault, Shy FX, Buju, Beres, Sizzla, Mayfield, Marvin, Fela, The Marley Family, Rich Medina, DJ Monk, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Selector Bam Bam, Beat Junkies, Liondub, David Roddigan, Kirky-C and Poison Dart to name a few. Across all genres you'll find those that stand head and shoulders above the rest. We call them Funkworthy. Shouts to the all heads who have turned off their tv's and radio and come out to a show to hear something worthwhile. Peace
Sounds Like: Aliens with dreadlocks hi-jacked the Mothership from P-funk and George sparked up a blunt and told em to chillout.
