At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.

About Me

"When you are real, you don't mind being hurt It doesn't happen all at once, you become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't often happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand." [The Original Velveteen Rabbit p.11]..

My Interests

Ask me and I'll tell you.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone that breathes, can formulate a thought, and is not afraid to be themselves or follow their passion. Something to that effect.

Music:

Soul, jazz, rap, reggae, hip hop, r&b, dancehall, classic rock, classical, country(depending on the artist), pop, rock, salsa, funk, disco, dance, house, electronica, classic house, soca, calypso, techno, world, tribal, trip-hop, etc. I have a wide taste in music. If it makes me move, I love it.

Movies:

I like 'em. I like 'em a lot. I'd never pass on an opportunity to catch a flick. If it gets under my skin, I'll throw out a quote or two. I admit I've seen these a little more than once...

The Matrix [first one only], The Princess Bride, Purple Rain, Pretty Woman, Boomerang, Donnie Darko, When Harry Met Sally, The Goonies, Dangerous Liasons, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Monsoon Wedding, The Piano Teacher, He Loves Me...He Loves Me Not, Amelie, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Highlander, The Color Purple, Hud, Auntie Mame, Coming to America, Splendor in the Grass (1961), Run Lola Run, The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), Cruel Intentions, City of God, Clockwork Orange, Victor/Victoria, Peter Pan (2003), Frida, Fight Club, House Party, Grosse Pointe Blank, The Sound of Music, The Long, Hot Summer (1958), a lot of Disney films (Lady & The Tramp is in my top three favs), various vampire flicks, Heathers, American Psycho, The Best Man, The Usual Suspects, Full Metal Jacket, GoodFellas, Pulp Fiction, Out of Sight, Enter the Dragon, etc.

Television:

It turns on and off.

Dexter, 30 Rock, House, Newsradio, Ugly Betty, Project Runway, The Office (UK), Are You Being Served?, Family Ties, The Cosby Show, A Different World, Scrubs, Politically Incorrect, Buffy, Oz, Touching Evil, Rome, Conan O'Brien, any medical documentaries (my inner scientist loves it), NOVA (it's informative), Animaniacs, Freakazoid (shut up), Thundercats, classic Warner Brothers cartoons, Voltron, 3-2-1 Contact, Reading Rainbow, and Joy of Painting (Bob Ross 4 Eva!). Ain't nothing wrong with PBS.

Books:

Reading is fundamental; a commercial on tv told me so.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez and James Patterson have both drawn an intense passion in me for completely different reasons. One causes my heart to flutter while the other brings out blinding rage yet I can't stop reading either. If you mention that Zane inspired you to read, then we can't be friends anymore.

I do love books and I am open to recommendations. My library is waiting to be created.

Heroes:

A whole lot of people I aspire to be like, known or unrecognized.

My Blog

sardonically yours....

I'm thinking of taking a long break from myspace before I do anything drastic. It came to me last night as I was writing a long winded piece and stopped myself. I had to stop myself from writing and p...

Remember me not

as for that/this

In the space of what was present (or at least what I deluded myself into thinking but clearly this was not the case), a slap in the face was well merited. I think not, want not. To even attempt for su...

Aah...the 80's. I love the song that's currently on the page. Brings back memories of childhood and it is also the reason why there's a hole in the wall as a result from dancing. The hole has s...

Laura's Creek: the quirky ebbs and flows

What is in the space of random? Meaning, what is the likelihood of events coming into sync that you have to look at the universe and laugh at your own expense? I try not to attribute too much value ...

one night: L.A.W.

Normally I don't post this much in a week but it cannot be helped. I'm just letting the fingers do their work and if something substantial comes out, gravy. If not, oh well. I'll try harder next time....
