I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Hey! Thanks for visiting my site! So here's the skinny on me:I have a lot to say, and often, not alot of time to say it. I also wanted to spend money on a really snazzy site complete with flash photography and my own theme song, but I am broke right now, and all of my friends are doin' it, so I finally caved and got my own Myspace website. My life is...interesting. The long and short of it is I am a jazz trumpet player/musician, basketball coach/teacher (NYC public school, afterschool sector), athlete, activist (shh! don't tell anyone...), visual artist, grantwriter, public speaker, aunt, daughter, niece, granddaughter, friend and last but not least, an administrator/Board Member for the oldest Black Musical organization in America. You can usually find me being at least two of these things on a given day, which is why my friends never reach me and call me "The Ghost of Brooklyn".As a musician, I have been performing since I was seven (started displaying musical talent at 4). My devlopment on trumpet is largely due to the instruction of Genghis Nor, a great jazz trumpet player who has performed/learned with everyone from Dizzy to Lee Morgan to Frank Foster to Charli Persip. On my horn, I have performed at Symphony Space, Studio 54, The Village Underground, The Brooklyn Mariott and The World Famous Apollo Theater to name a few places, as well as many states across the Eastern Seaboard. I am currently a member of six bands (see "Music"). My desire to travel out of the country yet is growing after many close calls this year. My goal is to be an ambassador for jazz music in its truest form--played for everyday people to enjoy and be spiritually uplifted, by everyday people who recognize and respect the history of the music, especially its origins as the preservation and expression of AFRICAN traditions in America. See my blogs later on for more on this subject....My band BR and Timebomb just released an album "Believe in Something (Greater than Yourself)". To us, it is a true testament of how you must conduct your life if you want true success or anything of value. As a teacher, I currently teach basketball and life to middle school students in Brooklyn. I have been a literacy and Spanish tutor to many children in New York City and Ohio.So basically, I see myself as an ordinary person blessed with extraordinary qualities, prone to making the same mistakes as everyone else, if I make the choice to. Fortunately for me, Jesus, His Wisdom and Spirit influence me to do otherwise. So that's it! Not bad for 30, huh?

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Great musicians who understand that their gift is a talent given to them from above, to share life and live with others. I also would love to meet down-to-Earth people who care about others, LOVE to have fun and live life to its fullest potential (in a good way!) . Which means...... NO Squares, NO Megalomaniacs and NO Rude, Vulgar or Inconsiderate people! They P!$$ me off!!.... ..I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!

*Sigh* Yet ANOTHER Jazz great I won’t be able to see in action or meet.

Wow. I just read that Oscar Peterson passed away. For the last couple of years, I have been reading, listening and marveling at how quickly our jazz masters are leaving us. It always makes me admire t...
