A Re:Educator with Major Flavor

About Me

Farbeon (Fabian Saucedo) is a poet/emcee/educator hailing from El Paso, Texas. Through a dedication to language and community-building, he has delivered the transformational power of poetry to young and old alike throughout the United States.
As Education Coordinator for Working Playground, NYC's premier non-for-profit arts education organization (www.workingplayground.org), he works to develop pedagogy that bridges the gap between the arts and the academics. He teaches Poetry, Performance, Song-Writing & Hip-Hop Re:Education at the Facing History School, where he also serves as the Artistic Director. He has taught classes with Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, and Fab Five Freddy.
Farbeon has also been working with the Alzheimer Poetry Project (www.alzpoetry.com) for the past 4 years. Through this work, he has had the privilege and honor of performing for seniors throughout the nation who suffer from Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
Musically, Farbeon reps both Say Word Entertainment (NYC) and the Blow Up Co-Op (AZ). In 2002, Farbeon worked with veteran hip-hop producer Foundation (www.universatilemusic.com) to indpendently release "Collective Memory". Shortly thereafter, he moved to the commercially-saturated scene of New York City and was quick to find out that he had taken for granted the cooperative vibe of the Southwest.
In the fall of 2003 he co-founded Say Word Entertainment, a collective of socially-conscious and like-minded artists, musicians, and promoters, who want to bring genuine hip-hop culture, community, and activism back to NYC. In early 2005, as a member of 3rd Party he released "Pressed for Time", an album which recieved "****" in the September, '05 issue of Urb Magazine. One year later the 3rd Party released their second album "Separation of Powers" which included the production of 13 producers and which was mixed by DJ Center (Giant Step).
In the past 5 years he has rocked well over 200 shows from the East Coast to the West Coast, including headlining the 2007 Northeast Kingdom Music Festival with the Hip-Hop Re:Education Project, Fishbone, The Coup, and Sister Nancy. Farbeon has also shared the stage with: The Last Poets, Rob Swift & the Executioners, Fishbone, Wordsworth, Fatlip from the Pharcyde, Rhymesfest, 2 Mex, Emanon, The Strange Fruit Project, Blu, and DJ Exile to name a few.
In Augutst of 2008 Farbeon will embark on his first European tour alongside 3rd Party cohort Rabbi Darkside and Say Word fam The Czech Beatbox All-Stars. And in September he begins developing his own Master's Degree program in Hip-Hop Re:Education at New York University's Gallatin School of Indvidualized Studies.
