DJ Esquire, representing Brooklyn, NY has 10+ years of DJ experience under his belt consisting of live stage performances, radio shows, various club/lounge residencies and numerous DJ competitions throughout the U.S. and overseas. Esquire has performed on the same bill with such musical acts as Run DMC, Kanye West, Slick Rick, Ja-Rule, Ashanti, Busta Rhymes, Kid Capri, Capelton, Brand Nubian, The Beatnuts, M.O.P, Cella Dwellas, and Wordsworth among many others. Esquire has also performed as the live DJ for underground artist Rise and pop/rock newcomer Muffy Nixon,
During his 3-year stint on WPUB - Pace University Radio, Esquire spun regularly at many NYC venues such as Tunnel, @ Café, Knitting Factory, and many others. Esquire had a breakthrough year in 2001 showing strong performances in the DMC, ITF, and Vestax NY regional competitions as well as on the Studio Y television show on the Metro cable network.
But Esquire didn't stop there...
In 2002, he emerged as the Guitar Center Northeast Champion, runner-up in the ITF U.S. Finals, and is a member of the ITF Western Hemisphere Team Champions. Esquire proudly represented the USA in the ITF World Finals held in Munich, Germany. Esquire also secured a slot with Backspin Studios where he tutored aspiring DJs in the art of turntablism.
Since 2003, Esquire has placed or won every battle he has competed in. With his victory at the Hot 97 DJ Battle, Esquire had the privilege to open for DJ Mister Cee (DJ for Notorious B.I.G.) on the Hot 97 Summer Party Cruise. In 2004, Esquire collected over $10,000 in cash and prices from his battle victories. In the summer of 2005, Esquire was on tour with the Mountain Dew And 1 Mixtape Tour spanning 30 cities over 3 months and he returned in 2006 for another 25 city stint.
This year, Esquire re-entered the battle ring and is 2 for 2. He won the Roc Raida/Stanton Gong DJ Battle NY Regional and the DMC Minneapolis Regional titles. He also shot a commercial ad for the Toyota Yaris shown across the U.S.
With all of these accomplishments, Esquire has proven to be a fierce competitor in the battle scene and a highly respected figure in the turntablist community.
