'Be Yourself', the brilliant debut album of Judgement Yard's own Joseph Shepherd is a message to all reggae fans that Shepherd is a definite star in the music and a true force to be reckoned with.
Like Congo Judah's debut album, 'The Crown', 'Be Yourself' is corked with solid, unreleased Judgement Yard music from the first track to the last and beckons the listener to study the album intensely in its entirety.
With a mix of chopping modern roots reggae riddims, modern dancehall riddims, r&b riddims with swagger, and inventive, original hip-hop beats, 'Be Yourself' is demonstrative of the extreme versatility of Joseph Shepherd and his high level of comfort when chanting over a variety of riddims from different musical genres.
'Be Yourself' opens up with the r&b inspired cut, 'Movin' On', in which Shepherd urges his empress not to take him for granted and warns of the consequences if he is. Shepherd makes it clear that he will be movin' on regardless of the weather and stay true to himself as a survivor in life.
Tracks like 'It's Real' featuring Rapper J of 'One Law' fame with Congo Judah, 'Are You Coming Back' and 'Everyone Needs Help' and the perennial crowd favorite, 'Love Mi Chalice Cup' keep up the blazing hip-hop and r&b musical assault and keep the listener very entertained as well as cater to a wider variety of musical tastes beyond reggae music itself.
But for the hardcore roots rock reggae lovers who comprise the heart of Joseph Shepherd's fan base, there are some truly special treats in store for you on this debut musical effort of Shepherd in the form of absolutely crucial cuts like 'Jah Bless You All', 'My Life', 'Hear Them Say', 'Bullet To The Grave', 'Wake Up' featuring Glen Ricks and the beloved title track, 'Be Yourself'.
For the dancehall lovers, tracks like 'Motherland' and 'Don't Get Caught' will be sure to please, while not offending the roots lovers as the message in both of these dancehall minded tracks are purely conscious and uplifting.
In fact, this album overall is totally clean and righteous and is meant for listeners of all ages right down to the babe and the suckling. At the same time, the material on 'Be Yourself' will also appeal to older, more discerning fans of reggae music as the talent the Shepherd exhibits delivering his bread and butter roots material is overwhelming and undeniable.
Joseph Shepherd has definitely taken his singjay craft to a new level in all areas of the music and his star quality is undeniable.
'Be Yourself' is an all around hit record and is guaranteed to receive heavy rotation on a daily basis in the music player of your choice, so don't waste anymore time and start downloading your free copy of Joseph Shepherd's stellar debut album, 'Be Yourself.'

Kalonji Records and Chop Chop Productions have just come with some hot and fresh new tracks from the Judgement Yard musical oven featuring Sizzla, Shepherd, and Bobo David, which are now loaded up and firing shots in our listening room for the world to hear.
Straight out of Kalonji Records on behalf of Sizzla, Judgement Yard presents three amazing new tracks from the King, and all of the roots and culture lovers will not be quite pleased with these latest selections.
The first track is a gem called 'Build Ghetto Youth' in which Sizzla implores youths and youths of the slum to get their education and build themselves and their communities. All sufferers are encouraged to sew good seeds, till the soil diligently and reap a good reward. The message in this tune is definitely potent and well delivered.
The next new tune courtesy of Sizzla and Kalonji Records is another conscious slice called 'Jah Will Protect Us Always' and all roots rock reggae fans who know their foundation will immediately recognise the riddim and the sample that Sizzla used to create and develop this wonderful number. Does the foundation tune 'This Land' ring a bell?
If not, get familiar because this demo from Sizzla is a bomb.
In typical Sizzla form and fashion all the lovely ladies could not be neglected and as a result, we present to you a chopping r&b cut entitled 'Girl I Love You.' All of the beautiful princesses and empresses of the earth will truly love this one.
Bobo David also has voiced a new tune on the underground Kalonji Records produced riddim called 'Its a Party' which can also be found in our listening room. As most of you who log onto to our listening room regularly, you are all most likely familiar with Bobo David's first effort on the riddim called, 'If You Say You Love Me'. This tune has gone over so well with the people that Bobo David has voiced an additional track on the riddim called 'What Can You Do' where he chants about his unstoppable nature as a bobo rasta in the gideon. As is always expected with Bobo David, this track is straight blazing from beginning to end.
Finally from Chop Chop productions, we have the latest single from Joseph Shepherd, 'I Will Have To Go' in which the core Rastafari value of repatriation is brought to the forefront. Shepherd reminds the people in this song that Jamaica is not his home and it is really Africa that he strives to reach.
'I Will Have to go' features Joseph Shepherd in top form.
To Hear the latest tunes from Sizzla, Shepherd and Bobo David, select them from our Judgement Yard Music Player.
Judgement Yard was established as a community centre inAugust Town by Sizzla Kalonji. As the owner and founder of the Yard, he is responsible for many youths in the community of August Town, as well as youths who come from other areas to seek assistance and guidance in life as well as music.
Judgement Yard is like a home to many Rastafari youth, of which the majority wear turbans and trod the earth as battlefield warriors in Selassie Army in that I and I "burn" corruption and dirty livity. Many of these same youths who are members of Judgement Yard fraternity are musicians or have some direct affiliation with the music through production works, artiste works, etc. Some of these talents are featured on this website, but many more will follow because Judgement Yard is ever progressive and never idle. As Sizzla Kalonji is a versatile pioneer within Reggae music, so are all of the battlefield warriors who compromise the body of the Judgement Yard organism, while Sizzla represents the head.

At last, 'The Ultimate Hussler' has finally arrived in our exclusive download store and is available only through judgementyard.org.
This show, which commemorated the earth strong anniversary of one of Judgement Yard's own, Part Two is a show that is not easlily forgotten. After all, it represents a Judgement Yard and Alliance link up live, straight out of Judgement Yard. It just doesn't get much bigger or better than 'The Ultimate Hussler'.
Opening the show were a few upcoming local talents from in and around August Town who burned some serious fire, all the while setting the musical pace for the evening and paving the way for the bigger Judgement Yard stars to come.
Teflon arrived on stage to huge forwards from the August Town massive chanting, 'Well then di bugger dem guh, nyam off di pig and dem guh, nyam di bloody cow and dem guh nyam di lickle fish dem weh swim down below' from his chart topping tune on the 'Breath of Fiyah' riddim. The talented Bobo youth from St. Mary then began reeling off hits from his burgeoning catalogue from 'Rise Up' to 'Holding On'.
Upon Teflon's departure, Bobo David made his arrival and blessed the place before proceeding to chant 'Nah put mi head down deh, mi know seh it red down deh' while dashing a serious fiyah on the bowers. The capacity crowd in Judgement Yard demanded a forward for the blazing new track from Bobo David.
Bobo David connected with every tune he drew until it was time to usher in Congo Judah aka Ol' Gunz. The Marshal was obviously at ease on his own turf and commanded the stage well. He gave the people a taste of the 'Demerara' tune and transitioned well between crucial cuts like 'R'ollin' In' and a brand new track called 'Jam Rock Youth.'
Judah represented as the Marshal that he is until he called Joseph Shepherd on stage whose opening tune, 'Love Mi Chalice Cup' moved the show to a higher realm. Shepherd wasn't alone on the stage long before he called none other than Sizzla Kalonji on stage just at the right time to share in the glory of the star-packed evening.
Sizzla's presence brought the show to a feverish pitch and as his voice echoed through the August Town air it was apparent that the community was experiencing a truly special treat.
Dada blazed through a set of new, exclusive releases and freestyles until Bounty Killer could not help but to make his presence known in the midst of the pandamonium caused by Sizzla's superman like artistic ability and stage presence.
As soon as The Warlord touched the stage deejaying 'Bwoy ah guh dead and all di world mi ah tell' on the Stagalag riddim, lighers and torches lit up the evening as the community showed x amount of love to the Killer in return for his blessing them with his presence and his craft. From then on, it was pure joy as the stage began to fill up with artistes like Harry Toddler, Alozade, and Leego, who also contributed select numbers to the high powered musical assault.
'The Ultimate Hussler' like all other original, high quality merchandise offered by Judgement Yard is a must have. It is a show of love from the grassroots of the music, all the way to the top. On the grassroots side, August Town residents from Judgement Yard, Angola, River, Jungle 12, Vietnam, Bryce Hill and even adjacent communities like Hermitage came together in peace and love in a musical night of unity and solidarity for the community.
On the top side of the music, two of the most visible don dada artistes in the music for the past 10 years, Sizzla Kalonji and Bounty Killer came together in one love bringing together Judgement Yard and the Alliance in the whole glorious process.
Make sure to cop your own copy and you will be joyful for it.
When the name Sizzla Kalonji is mentioned in Reggae circles, it provokes an extreme response in all those present. Indeed, all who are not present but are familiar with Sizzla's prolific work nonetheless would be equally subject to that said extreme response if they should be present. That is the mark of a truly innovative individual whose name will undoubtedly stand the test of time due to the fact that the responses evoked by Sizzla's name and his music are of no consequence. The sole fact that the responses are extreme is the only issue at hand because that in itself signifies Sizzla's power to affect the reggae loving masses positively or negatively in a very potent way. Even those who are turned off by his message will have to admit that Sizzla is truly a gifted artist at the very least. On the other hand, those who are positively inspired by his music will claim that he is the "King of Reggae."
www.judgementyard.org proudly presents "Sizzla & Firehouse: Live at Judgement Yard," an unprecedented view of Sizzla in Judgement Yard at a live rehearsal session with his regular backing band.
This limited edition collector's item is sure to please all Sizzla fans who wish to see him live, off-stage and unrehearsed at his yard in August Town, while providing viewers with access to the other sides of Sizzla's off-stage personality: those of a task master and a perfectionist.
