About Me

Writer, programmer, songwriter, photographer... I'd like to be remembered as a new renaissance man, but since being remembered tends to mean being dead I'm in no hurry. As it stands I've been a programmer professionally for some years and am now striving to break out by way of comic fiction. My first 'commercial' novel, Erasmus Hobart and the Golden Arrow, a time-travel comedy revolving around the Robin Hood legend was released this year by UKA Press .

Wildlife Therapy

The weather over the last few weeks has been somewhat on the soggy side, which for me is rather annoying. This is one of those times of year when I get the most from my wildlife, making regular visits...

I'm a professional, honest.

It's all getting very serious now. One of the things that happened in the wake of my meeting in London was that I was advised to sign up with the Society of Authors. This is a professional body who re...

Developments

We're moving on. Saturday's meeting in London was good - almost good enough to compensate for my mobile phone being stolen (it's worrying when you don't know if you're going to have to pay for some hu...

Writing Between The Bars

Well, it's been a while, but that's largely because the last few months have been somewhat eventful. In November, I not only started writing my latest novel, I also embarked on a new career, developin...

Another Year Gone By

Just a quick thank you to those who popped by to wish me the best. It's a shame to think that I can no longer say I'm 21 (in hexadecimal, anyway), but then you're only as young as you feel. Did I have...

Service with a Sale

A strange but rather charming thing happened to me on Tuesday night. For the last few weeks it has seemed my appearance in local paper, The Chad, has gone unnoticed here in Edwinstowe. Then, afte...

No Flowers For Young Algernon

Some less positive news today. A few weeks back, I sent a copy of Erasmus to be appraised for secondary school libraries in Nottinghamshire. Today, I received the response. Books on Robin Hood tend to...

As Promised - News and Reviews

Well, busy busy, we've had a rather active weekend. On Friday, the Newark Advertiser ran their review of Erasmus - something they'd been holding back to tie in with the new BBC Robin Hood. The review ...

Timing

The proverbial they would have it that timing is everything. Well, if that's true, then this weekend should be my moment. The delayed launch to BBC1's new interpretation of Robin Hood comes just the e...

From L-space to Nirvana

Just a quick addendum to yesterday's news. Waterstones contacted me this morning to say that they managed to find their copy of Erasmus. Not only that but they consider the book suitable for stock. Th...
