My name is Treiops Treyfid. I am an artist living and working in Los Angeles. I'm here on MySpace to assemble a community of artists/friends. I have a few pics of my work here. The new work is a blend of my "Abstract Repressionist" style and some new experiments which center around popular culture and it's transient nature, made with recycled materials. Really getting into making things out plastic bags, cardboard, styroform, and spray paint stencils.
I had a few art pieces in the recent Create:Fixate 6th Anniversary Show. Check out the video I made of it.

Flight Reclaimed
Mixed media, 56w" x 56h", 2006
Notes: This piece features a mix between two kinds of materials I have been working with lately, recycled materials (cardboard, plastic bags) & holograms & resin. It was a very complicated piece to construct. It has a hollow body inlayed with rope lights which shine through holes drilled inbetween the cardboard hexagons made from consumer product boxes. The "mane" is made from plastic bags pulled through the circular exterior.

Thinking about what my role is as an artist in a world of global warming and Peak Oil, art galleries, make art, talk to interesting people, play tennis, racquetball, make music, go to strange events, dance, work on collaborative projects, eat Indian food, chocolate, have exciting conversations about philosophy, history, future, etc. hang out with friends, etc.

Also, I don't allow ads in my comments unless you're a close friend, or if it's something I'm helping to promote.

I like music that is mostly in the progressive realm. David Bowie, Richard Davies, Wire, The Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, AC Temple, Magma (French), Magna (LA), Sully (Canadian), Ruins (Japan), Swans, Polvo, Turing Machine, Future Sound of London, Meat Beat Manifesto, Talking Heads, Ultra Bide, Vangelis, Aphrodities Child, Guided By Voices, Marty Robbins, Neko Case, etc.

An Anthropologist on Mars by Oliver Sacks. The Highest Alter by Patrick Tierney. The Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby. The Babymaker by Rick Nelson. I've read a few books by Hyam Maccoby which I love: The Sacred Executioner, Revolution In Judea, & The Mythmaker Paul and the Invention of Christianity.
