JAMIE LEIGH'S "RAISE YOUR HAND" CAMPAIGN

ABOUT THE "RAISE YOUR HAND" CAMPAIGN
Campaign idea and concept created by Jamie Leigh to raise awareness and inspire activism and motivation towards social justice for human beings and all living things spanning global lines.
SYMBOL
A white hand
QUOTE
"The inhumanity or injustice of any living thing is something that any person, with one single voice, can raise up on their own, get educated, and go out there and make a difference for. To show what part we each play in speaking out against human injustice, all it takes is a belief, a hope, a dream, and a single hand.
While some may have voices, many may not have use of theirs do to circumstances out of their own control. As a result, it is up to us, those with the voice, to rise up and do for them where they can not, to show that we hear. The simple steps are usually the ones which carry the most influence.
By simply raising up your own hand you can use through the power of touch and action, your own self to make a real difference in this world - today!
It took one hand upon one hand to lay the bricks that created the foundation of some of the greatest structures all over the world throughout history. These structures supplied the roof over the heads of the sick babies awaiting their unknown fate, a warm home for an animal just off the streets, and it even supplied food, water, and clothes to those devastated by some of mother natures worst catastrophies. Hands were held together in unity, peace and not war, not in indifference, not in hatred, and not in intolerance, because together they knew the power of those hands held together with the hope of a positive change would be far greater. Their power has been tested throughout time, it has been broken apart, but despite the odds, has always managed to return to itself with the renewed inspiration and conviction that all it takes is one person and a single act; then, the other hands can in time find their way back as well. By raising up your hand, you are understanding the profound value and importance that you carry with you every single moment of your life. The power to affect real change truly does lie in your very own hands.
"Let that hand remind you always of the importance of one person and one hand, and how much history has been made from those who came before us and gave of themselves, from their own two hands, to change the world when the world unchanged was all they thought they had."
Jamie Leigh
Make a real difference now and show your support by proudly displaying the "Raise Your Hand" campaign today! Even without the shirts, or other material things, you still withold that power, and that right to use what you've got. With your own two hands you can not only create art that can inspire and offer an escape to millions erasing the color lines and celebrating difference, but you can support someone who does not have that power, and show them ways to be heard that they might not even realize. It takes just one hand, and one person to start the wave of action and affecting real change in the world. Never underestimate the power of your own two hands... they are worth far more than you realize, now it's up to you to use them!
TRY THIS
Take your hand and dip it in a large tray of white paint. Then, take that wet paint on your hand and stamp it firmly against something that means a great deal to you; it might be a wall, a bed backboard, or even a simple document or piece of paper that brought you great distress.
By stamping your hand across it you are showing that your own belief and passions for what you feel to be right and just can triumph over whatever may cross or bring you down on your way to achieving your dreams.
Stamp it, let it dry, and then put it somewhere for all to see, or simply for yourself as a constant reminder of what you retain. Put it in a place you visit at least once each day.
After it's been set for a while, take a black marker or pen and sign your name across the center of the hand.
After you've done that, take a long look at what you've just created it, and think about it's meaning. You may find even more meanings than you realize, and that's what makes this campaign so unique - there are no limits to the possibilities of what it can represent since each and every one of us as individuals have stories all our own. Think about it!
Do it, and make your mark for a real change now!
Thank you for raising your hand with us and remember to keep it raised high and never let it be tied behind your back for any unjust reason - no matter what. Refuse to allow anyone to convince you that your own voice does not matter, or that you can't affect actual change - because you can if you work hard enough and never give up or in. Know and educate yourself on your own rights, fight for peace, fight for social justice, and fight for new ways to solve old problems. Dare to look beyond what the majority sees, and then prove them wrong by making a difference in ways that weren't thought possible before.

"The urge to create, the urge to photograph, comes in part from the deep desire to live with more integrity, to live more in peace with the world, and possibly to help others to do the same."

I'd like to meet:

I love you baby.

In an Artist's Studio
One face looks out from all his canvases,
One selfsame figure sits or walks or leans:
We found her hidden just behind those screens,
That mirror gave back all her loveliness.
A queen in opal or in ruby dress,
A nameless girl in freshest summer-greens,
A saint, an angel€”every canvas means
The same one meaning, neither more nor less.
He feeds upon her face by day and night,
And she with true kind eyes looks back on him,
Fair as the moon and joyful as the light:
Not wan with waiting, not with sorrow dim;
No as she is, but was when hope shone bright;
Not as she is, but as she fills his dream.
We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes€”
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.
Why should the world be over-wise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.
We smile, but, O great Stars above, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise.
We sing, but oh the clay is vile
Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
But let the world dream otherwise,
We now wear the mask of belief

Heroes:

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
-Confucious, In Humanity
Be the change you want to see in the world.
- Mahatma Gandhi
My imagination makes me human and makes me a fool; it gives me all the world and exiles me from it.
- Ursula K. Le Guin
Create like a god, command like a king, work like a slave.
- Constantin Brancusi
Surely whoever speaks to me in the right voice him or her I shall follow as the water follows the moon, silently.
- Walt Whitman
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. Why do we have to grow up? I know more adults who have the children's approach to life. They're people who don't give a hang what the Joneses do. You see them at Disneyland every time you go there. They are not afraid to be delighted with simple pleasures, and they have a degree of contentment with what life has brought - sometimes it isn't much, either. It's something that will never be finished. Something that I can keep developing...and adding to. Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world. I'm doing this because I want to do it better. This is the thing I'm going to be remembered for.
- Walt Disney
Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Whenever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must - at that moment - become the center of the universe.
- Elie Wiesel
€œWhat we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.€?
