Who are we?
Randi Rose and Seb Molino
Randi Rose:
Oddly enough, I'm relatively new to this band thing, fronting my first rock/pop band in 2002 while attending business school in London. This wasn't the start of my musical path, however. Growing up outside Philadelphia I spent a lot of time in school choirs, musicals, had the odd occasion of playing around with lyrics and melodies and had my first voice lesson at age 14. I'd always sing with songs on the radio and was also surrounded by a lot of classical piano, courtesy of my mother (Beethoven's Pathetique will always be special!). In all of that time, though, I never felt that I was going in any sort of musical direction.
Since joining the 2002 band, however, everything changed. I couldnt get enough and haven't stopped pushing for more. As the business school band ended I joined another one. After having a blast gigging around London for a year, the band members parted ways. It was time to figure out what was next, knowing that I needed something different with more challenge and more opportunity for expression. I saw an ad for a singer to join a heavier rock band. My interest was immediately piqued. I went for an audition and by the end it was a done deal. It was in this band that I first met Seb. We began building a repertoire of covers. Seb soon brought in some original ideas as well. He handed a disc to me and said to have a listen, to try writing some lyrics and to see what we could make of them. For me, this is when Vitreolic was born!
And, as luck would have it, around the same time that I met Seb, I met and have continued seeing an exceptional SLS voice teacher, Line Hilton.
Seb Molino:
I started playing guitar when I was in my teens, not long after getting into rock music in general. After a couple of years practice I joined my first band, which lasted quite a while. We played hard and very loud and were utterly crap! Still, live and learn as they say and thats what I did. After that I was in numerous bands including some that started to get some recognition on the pub club circuit and some radio airplay, and all the time I was pushing to improve as a player and songwriter. I met many interesting musicians and people through my travels and it never ceases to amaze me how big a part random chance plays in all this band stuff.
Spin on to 2004. I was playing in a band that I had been instrumental in putting together, and at the time we were looking for a singer. Randi answered the ad, came along for an audition and got the job.
From completely different musical backgrounds, we began tentatively exploring some co-writing and quickly realised that we were of like mind, attitude and approach. The combination of our abilities yielded some exciting possibilities and our stylistic differences gelled into a cool and complimentary contrast.in our music. It wasnt long before a productive song writing partnership took off with .the primary mission of writing an albums worth of material. At the same time, it was becoming clear that we were moving in a different direction from the rest of the band in which we initially met. So, we parted ways with them and have since continued working on the album.
Characterised by catchy riffs, meaningful lyrics and carefully crafted vocal harmonies, our music still retains its metal backbone and attitude for which Vitreolic is proud to fly the flag.
Music like life is a journey. Vitreolic is on that road. If you are drawn towards music with a unique edge, you may like what Vitreolic has to offer., So why not travel down that road with us? Its gonna be a great ride!
We will soon be looking for the right people to complete the band and continue writing the album. If you are a guitarist, bassist or drummer and like what you have seen and heard, watch this space! Better yet, get in touch!
