INDOFIN, a somewhat unusual ska-punk-reggae band from the live music capital of Austin TX, has seen a lot since the release of their self-titled debut album in summer 2005, and they're getting ready for some more touring before the release of the upcoming follow-up, hopefully at the end of 2008. Together for over four years and brought up on a variety of musical influences ranging from Sublime to Slayer, Indofin is a band striving to maintain their ever changing musical vision while also having a blast in the process.
Back in 1999, TJ Huerta, Donny Mann, and Eric Tussing moved up to Austin from the Rio Grande Valley in Harlingen TX. Their main goal was to start a band. TJ, a former death metal drummer and self-taught guitarist, took up songwriting duties along with Donny on drums and Eric on lead guitar, who'd a few years later leave to be married. Thus was the birth of Indofin. Mike McCarthy and Justin Cook, worked with these three at a telemarketing job that first year in Austin, and they all soon became close friends. Mike started DJ-ing for Indofin and Justin eventually took on MC duties, bringing a distinct hiphop element to the band. In November of 2002 Albert Huang became Indofin's permanent bassist after answering an ad in the paper and auditioning on bass after the two previous ones had left or quit. Albert, a former local musician/student/drifter/punk from southern CA, fit in perfectly with the band's vibe from the very first day and his unique bass style brought on a significant evolution in the overall sound of the band.
Since then, Indofin has been regularly playing on the Austin club scene, playing with bands of every imaginable genre. They have played SXSW Austin 2003, 2004, 2005, & 2006 and their songs "Put In Work" and "Power To Tell" are featured on the AustinPunkRock compilation CDs and numerous other compilations would later pick up songs on the album. The band independently released their debut album in summer of 2005, which is when they also booked their first tour. Various weekend regional tours would follow in 2006 and the second tour would follow a year later summer 2006. Indofin has been fortunate enough to share the stage with many top quality underground national & local acts including 6 Pack Deep, The Stingers, Liquid Cheese, BPM, In The Face, Peachcake, Adam's Out, The Supervillains, & many, many more.
Currently, this eclectic group of misunderstood punker sluts has been hard at work on the follow up record. In the last two years, the band has endured numerous obstacles(carjackings, near death, drug addiction, alcoholism, & much more) and yet their uncompromising dedication to their craft remains stronger than ever. The debut record spawned Indofin's first two national tours and inspired a slew of new songs that will be on the follow up. The band was quite busy over the the first half of 2007, with regional tours in TX and Louisiana, SXSW, and their April tour through OK,AR,TN, KY, OH, WV, GA, AL.. Following this third tour, the band spent much of the summer regionally touring TX/Louisiana and they signed with Neil Sheehan of HM Management/Concert Promotions, based out of Cleveland. Also in July 2007 , Indofin was picked to play on the Hot Topic Kevin Says Stage on the Houston date of the 2007 Vans Warped tour. For years, this unsigned Austin regular managed and booked themselves for local shows, and even regional/national tours, often learning the hard way many of the cruel realities of the music industry. It appears to have paid off and the band may have finally caught the break their music truly deserves. More shows TBA full show updates at www.myspace.com/indofin
