Well, easiest stuff first. I'm Darren Burgfeld. I recently moved back home, to Cape Girardeau, MO from Dallas, TX. Many reasons contributed to that decision, but mainly it was because of my beautiful daughter, Layla Marie. I live in the house I bought in 2002 with my fiancée Carrie Halter, and our two cats, Truman and Napoleon (aka, Nappy).
2008 saw me starting a new career, as a full-time writer for SHOEBACCA.com. Go visit the site and you can read my funny stuff. Oh, and we have some really awesome shoes and apparel, too. I've been there since Dec 27th 2007, and it's going swimmingly!
Traveling... I've been to most of the US now, Mexico, Canada and Germany. I worked all over Texas when I was running the Emergenza stuff, so I got to see a lot of that beautiful state! I miss life on the road for the new faces and places, but when it all boils away, what really counts is the people who have been here, smiling, the whole time I was "adventurin'."
I sing, play trombone (though not as much as I used to, unfortunately) and try to play some guitar. Layla likes my songs, and we sing made-up stuff all the time. She smiles and laughs, so it can't be that bad. I enjoy music (duh), and spending time with family, which I never get enough time for. I have a beautiful niece, Dori (aka Smoochie), who is featured in more than one future blackmail picture in my albums, and a loving and great family here in Missouri. My mom and dad are cool as can be and my sis and brother-in-law/stunt double are the shiznit. My sis recently found out she's pregnant, so Dori's gonna have a new little bro or sis later this year!
Carrie and I have been together for nearly four years now... and she hasn't killed me yet! I guess that's why I asked her to marry me Christmas morning. Better lock her in before she takes the kid and runs! She rocks and gets an awesome discount at Best Buy (which only she can use, so don't even start to ask me). Carrie's kickass.

The thing that I miss most right now is my old
car, a 1965 Ford Galaxie. She's sitting in my dad's shop,
gathering feed lot dust and hoping for my swift return with a tranny and a lot
of patience. I got this car from my Grandpa about ten years ago. She
only has about 78,000 miles on her, and unfortunately after a couple of years of
me driving her, the transmission went out. I haven't been able to find a
suitable replacement since... or the time or $$$ to do it.
This car means so much to me, because it was my Grandpa's (mom's dad). It
was our fishing car, the first car I ever drove, and was the apple of my eye for
most of my adolescent life. I remember telling Grandpa that I was going to
buy that car someday, and he told me, "Okay, I'll sell it to ya for $10,000."
I said, "No problem." Boy, was I naive...
Anyway, he passed the car on to me, and I miss her. I started fixing her up but
then I moved... Now that I'm back home, I'm patiently awaiting the warmer months
so I can disappear in the shop and try to get her shipshape again.Enough rambling about the car.
If any of you know anyone at that cool show "Overhaulin'," you just tell them I
love them and will give them my first born if they rebuild my baby. *07-18-08 Changed my mind; you can have my second born.
So, send me a message, tell me how you are doing. Post a comment and leave something for the world to see. Hope to see you smiling soon!
One Love,
D
