Create "original" music that will endure and inspire future generations to also think and create for themselves! Great artists don't always have "perfect" voices but they do have a "voice" which they make known by writing their own material and singing it from their heart with true conviction. These days everyone believes they are a singer and songwriter (even tho someone else writes all their material for them) but unless you are writing with a "point of view" and writing your own material you are a "performer" and possibly a manufactured product of someone else's thoughts! Many people can sing (which there is a talent and technique required to properly convey the author's material) but not everone can be a real artist which generally belongs to a special breed of thinkers and creators!
Great Quotes from Intelligent Artists & Thinkers:
"Keep at it and you'll reach the people you were meant to reach."
(William de Kooning)
"Leave a space for God to walk into the studio." "U either got "it" or U don't!"
(Quincy Jones)
"It's the end of the world as we know it!" "Everybody hurts - sometimes."
(R.E.M)
Psychic spies from China try to steal your minds elation. Little girls from Sweden dream of silver screen quotations and if you want these kind of dreams - It's Californication. Destruction leads to a very rouch road but it also breeds creation. Earthquakes are to a girl's guitar just another good vibration. First born unicorn, hard core, soft porn - It's understood that Hollywood sells Californication."
(Red Hot Chili Peppers)
"Well I know what's right and I got just one life - in a world that keeps on pushing me around - but I'll stand my ground. I won't back down - U can stand me up at the gates of hell but I won't back down - won't be turned around - gonna stand my ground!""Cause I don't scare easy - no I don't scare easy - for no one!"
"Well I started out down a dirty road - I started out all alone - and I started out for God knows where? I guess I'll know when I get there - cause I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings and coming down is the hardest thing.""Baby, even the losers get lucky sometimes!"
(Tom Petty/Jeff Lynn)
"You've got to lose to learn how to win" (Aeorsmith)" "There's something wrong with the world today I don't know what it is...there's something wrong with our eyes...we're seeing things in a different way and God knows it ain't his!"
(Aeorsmith-M. Hudson)
"Well you can bump and grind if it's good for your mind. You can twist and shout - let it all hang out - but you won't fool the children of the revolution! No, No, No! - There's No Way!"
(T. Rex)
"So you wanna rock n roll? Just keep it all under control! Call the "posers" in. Well it's all such a sin! What the hell do they know of - Neil Young, T-Rex, The Stones, Led Zep! Well they don't fool me! Just "Wasted Souls" I see..yeah, yeah yeah!!!!
(JodiLee)
Jodi Lee is a unique New York City Artist and Singer who writes songs with eclectic influences ranging from soulful classic bluesy rock to acoustic country ballads to punkish alternative rock (more songs to come).
As a child, Jodi, who practically "danced herself right out of the womb", would often practise her classical ballet to Rock & Roll songs. Full of energy and life she amused everyone with her charismatic song interpretations (often adding her own lyrics to standards). Having trained her voice in classic opera technique, she entertained the idea of following that path but soon found out it was too much of a constrictive and contrived form of art for her gypsy, "dance to the beat of her own drum" spontaneous nature. Instead she began listening to every lyric her rock n roll & soul idols would sing. After realizing the roots of rock n roll began with soulful brothers who had so much honest and important things to say and who sang them with such feeling - she found herself stongly attracted to and relating to that world. While at the same time being influenced by the British, American & Canadian boys who were speeding up the blues and rockin it out .. she caught on that many a rock song is basically a 50's/60's progression sped up, slowed down or funked out. Then it all clicked - if the boys can do it - maybe I can too! Writing from her heart she began expressing her feelings on acoustic guitar - from sad and soulful songs to powerful rock songs with messages of intelligence and angst - just like her male counterparts.
Along with being an accomplished artist, singer and performer in her own right (who is currently in the recording studio working on production/writing for a rock project ) - Jodi also looks forward to collaborating with "select artists/songwriters/bands/producers" who might be looking for a fresh and honest point of view.
