About Me

I have been a Guitar player and musician since I was 15 and am 44 now so you do the maths!! - mind you, thats not so bad am still younger than Steve Vai - lol. I wasn't a bad kid, but I skipped school constantly and played my cheap little guitar for upto 8 hours a day - oh yeah - my neighbours loved me - lol - and my fingers and their ears bled !! Music has given me some of the best times in my life and hopefully plenty more to come, especially when I get this show back on the road again later this year. In the eighties and early nineties I was the lead guitar player in the NWOBHM band Prowler, at the time we released a few singles that strangely seem to be more popular now than they were then, indeed I only have a few copies left cos they are worth good money - I am told!! We just missed making it into the 'big time' but had a good following and a great time so it was an experience not to be missed. It really was a great time for rock music then. Following that, I joined a band called Passion XX which was more in the Poison, Bon Jovi mould. We released just one single and an album track but this band eventually wound up going seperate ways in the early nineties. There have been a few other purely live bands since then and shamefully, a long hiatus. The tracks featured here were recorded in my home studio in Leicestershire, in the UK and are all rock instrumentals. These are the first things I have recorded in ten years and are all different in feel - at least I hope so! All the stuff you hear is played, recorded and produced by me. It was cool to be able to do your own thing without having to negociate with other band members and be able to claim both the good and the bad as your own - whichever that may be! Mind you, I do miss being able to bounce ideas off other musicians and writing for ALL the instruments can be testing at times. Future projects will include others though and I am going to be putting a band together (including vocalist !) which will be the next step in moving this forward. For now though, I hope you enjoy the music. This stuff is unashamedly rock guitar orientated and was done for fun so it probably won't appeal to everbody but I would really value the feedback, so give it a listen and let me know! I have always been in love with the guitar and the amazing music that has been made with those six strings. My influeneces began with Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin. In later years, Gary Moore, Michael Shenker, Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jeff Beck, George Lynch, Vivian Campbell, Angus Young, the great Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Dave Gilmour and numerous others. The influences are obvious but at the end of the day, I hope it just sounds like me - check out the borrowed bits though in "Gilmour for hire". 'Late Night at the La Whiskey' Is the latest track here along with 'The Journey Home'. What I really wanted to do with these tracks is to not stick to any one feel throughout and keep the interest going and the mood changing. I always wondered what it would be like if you had People like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dave Gilmour and maybe Satch all in the same band and I guess thats what I am trying to do here - mix them all in a big pot - give it stir and you get Chris Vye - I hope! - Not too derivative, more of a fusion of some of those styles - I Hope you like the results. I have made some really fantastic friends on here already - so thanks for taking the time to read this and listen to my tunes. Please do feel free drop me a comment or message, it's a always a pleasure to hear from my friends on here whether it's feedback on my music or just a bit of a chat. Take care all and have a great day. Chris ~
