About Me

My name's Adrie. I'm Indonesian, born and raised in Holland. I have a large interest in Asian cultures.

I listen to a lot of music and watch too many movies, especially Asian movies. J-Pop, J-Rock and other Japanese music has become a new passion for me. But (extreme) metal(Black & Thrash Metal especially) always will remain my main music, I grew up with it and it won't grow out of me! It's not just music, it's a way of life!

In my free time I do some drawing, study Asian cultures, learning Japanese and wasting some of my preciousss time in this damned place...

Okay, it isn't that bad. I did meet some good people (Shoko!!) from Asia here, who have given me a good insight in their culture(Arigato gozaimasu! Thank you!)

My Interests

- Ajima Shoko, my Angel of Death...
- I've recently taken up drawing again.
- Asian culture and Asian food, I can't live without rice. Rice is everything, the Beginning and the End, the Nectar of the Gods. It sucks to live in a country that thrives on potatoes...
Itadaki-masu!!!
- Japanese language
- the Doom that lies beyond our World
- the Secrets hidden in the Shadows
- the Brotherhood that controls us all
- Knowledge
- the Truth...

I'd like to meet:

Oh, anyone I guess. I only accept some bands (NO RnB, rap, hiphop, emo & nu-shit. Read the profile!!!) and only people I'm sure of who'll keep contact once in a while. If your looking for another chip in your pile, count me out.

I only keep my friends, the artists I like, and (as I said before) the people who keep in touch. Yeah, communication sucks doesn't it...

Music:

Music is very important in my life. I mainly listen to Metal, Jazz, Blues, Classical music. Anything actually except for R&B/Hip-hop, Nu and Emo-crap.
I've been listening to a lot of Pop and Rock from Japan. It's becoming a new drug...
Favorite Japanese artists:
- Hamasaki Ayumi
- Shiina Ringo/Tokyo Jihen
- Natsukawa Rimi
- Kotoko
- Onitsuka Chihiro
- Ayaka
- Thee Michelle Gun Elephant
- GitoGito Hustler
- The Blue Hearts

Movies:

Mainly Japanese, Korean and Chinese/Hong Kong cinema, some Anime, and the occasional Hollywood-crap.

Television:

- Japanese dramas
- Japanese TV-shows. Especially cooking shows, like Iron Chef!
- National Geographic
- Animal Planet
- Discovery Channel

Books:

Fantasy, Horror, SF and books about Asia.

Heroes:

My dad. For respecting me for who I am, for never losing faith in me, for not pushing his religious Faith on me, for putting some good food on the table when I was young, for picking me up everytime I fell down. For all of this and much more, terimah kasih banjak & arigatou gozaimasu otosan. I miss you, old man.

Kurosawa Akira. For making some cult-classics and being a great inspiration.

Miyazaki Hayao. For being a great storyteller and making some excellent animation.

Anton Pieck. For being a great illustrator and important inspiration on my drawing style.

Great Lord Cthulu. For showing me the stars and the insanity that lies beyond the depths of the eternal night.

Slayer. For making me able to stand up to the torments of life.

Totoro. Totoro is Everything. Totoro is the Alpha and the Omega. Totoro is Omnipotent. Totoro owns you all.

My Blog

Creations at work

Sometimes at work I got nothing to do for some time. Even the Internet gets boring (never thought that could happen) after a while. The thing is, when I get bored, I also become very creative. Don't a...

Drawing 02: Which came first... 06.09.2006

I made a sketch of this one a long time ago, but I lost that. Fortunately I've kept the idea in my head ever since. Honestly, I'm not completely satisfied with the result. I think the flames could've ...

What we've learned from horrormovies...

I love horror. Ever since I saw Nightmare on Elmstreet when I was 8-years young. I couldn't sleep for 3 days, but I was hooked. Horror was the new drug... Every week I'd rent and watch a few, knowing ...
