About Me

Jenny was born in Blyth, South Australia in 1981 and then moved to Geelong Victoria in 1991. She completed a Diploma of Jazz and Popular music at the Gordon Institute of T.A.F.E in 2002 then relocated to Perth, Western Australia where she completed a Bachelor of Music majoring on voice in 2005.Jenny has studied under Alison Wedding, Ray Walker, Sue Bluck and Graeme Lyall and as a member of the West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra through 2003-2004 Jenny was given the opportunity to perform alongside Don Burrows, Joe Chindamo and James Morrison. Jenny has also perfromed with Perth's newest big band MFO (Mace Francis Orchestra.) Jenny appears on the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) Big Band album, 'Random Musings' and as a member of the WAAPA jazz choir Jenny was given the opportunity to sing alongside 'Manhattan Transfer.'Currently Jenny is building her original repertoire. Her compositions aim to refelect her traditional jazz background whilst drawing on inspiration from nature, loss, anxiousness and a sense of freedom. She has strong vocal influence from Luciana Souza, Gretchen Parlato and Alison Wedding while compositionally Sara Serpa, Gian Slater and again, Luciana Souza have have influenced her greatly.Jenny is now in Berlin, concentrating on writing and some new techniques she was introduced to while she was in New York. She plans to stay here for a while before going back to Spain and visiting Italy and what ever else in between.
