At age 15 he was accepted into the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Having Completed a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance in 2003 Ricki is now a Part time Tutor at Mercy Catholic College and Kolbe Catholic College teaching brass.Also Ricki has played at many festivals including the York Jazz Festival 95-96, Noosa Jazz Festival 97-98-99 and Manly Jazz festival 97-98 as well as touring to Italy and Spain with Original Rock/Funk band Prawns with Horns in 2002, New York for the International Association of Jazz Educators with WAYJO in 2006, Melbourne with the Mace Francis Orchestra in 2006 as well as countless regional WA tours.He has played with many notable Jazz musicians such as Graeme Lyall, James Morrison, Joe Chindamo, Frank Foster, Don Burrows, Terrell Stafford, Ed Partyka, Jamie Oehlers, Ben Vanderwal, Tom Baker and local artists Sam Anning, Carl Mackey and Matt Jodrell. Ricki Malet is currently involved in some of Perths top Jazz ensembles such as the Mace Francis Orchestra, The Roast, The Fix and groups of varying size under his own name.
