Thornton started writing several years ago and friends encouraged her to publish her first novel, Ida Mae, in 1997. Her second work, Ida Mae: The Saga Continues, was released in December, 1998. May 2000, she released Ida Mae the combined edition. Her third novel, titled Babe was released December 2000, Anybody Seen Junebug?, was released in 2003, Divine Appointment: A Caregiver's Guide, was published in June 2004, and How To Self-Publish That Great Novel Without Going Nuts!, was released in 2005.
