This is a solo project that started off as me playing jaw harp and banging metal over oldies, talking back to TV commercials and playing kazoo. It was made for my high school chum(p)s to listen to while on "stuff". And verily it was. I've since toned down some of the absurdity, and have scored fine jaw harps from around the world, namely a tuned set of morsings from the snake charming caste of India and a few Dan Moi from Vietnam. There is just so much more I can do with these vs. the "Great American" or even the sharper Austrian jaw harps. I also transfered my remedial rythm to darbuka and udu. I still will play anything that I can get an interesting noise out of and find ways to incorporate it into "tunes". My latest disc is a mere 20 minutes, but has highly compacted ideas, a new putrefying of my still novice status as an "avante gaurdian".*As for claims to fame, I've jumped on stage after plucking at favorite musicians as well as small time acts. I've jammed with Architecture in Helsinki onstage on 'Do the Whirlwind', I've played a large Folk festival in Ashville with The Rib Tips, jammed on 'Cripple Creek' with The Bluegrass Messengers, had my stuff "on the spot" sampled at a clipssclipedoutclippings/Charles St. Lucas/SCF/Collaborations with Sound electronica gig in Greenville, SC. I now collaborate with my pal from New Zealand (and some G'ville hipsters now, also via mail), Nat da Hatt in a project consisting of mailing MiniDiscs from South Carolina to and from Tokyo, where lives. This is what I'm focused on primarily now, but once the moon dust settles, I'll have ideas for my next solo work.*Also I'd like to thank Scummy of Noddingturn Fan and Mr. Kaput so much for giving my tape a chance, and giving me encouragement. Also Les Claypool for his nod and "keep going!" when I plucked at him after a show. And Architecture in Helsinki, tight mash up with Busta, y'all! And The Coup for mopping up some of my MB BS.And finally, yes I am intersted in letting you sample my stuff, all I ask is some discretion in what is sampled and final say if you ever share the track(s) with anyone on a massive scale. This, of course will vary from fool to fool according to what you consider a massive scale. Thanks for visiting a twerk in progress.
