About Me

Minuit De Lacroix [a.k.a. Minuit | MDL | Into Ether | L'Hospitalet]
Former incarnations:
-TIDE (1993-1996)
Eye began my first experimental / industrial project in 1993.
Eye taped everything from absurd prank phone conversations
to home appliances, bicycles, bathrooms and acoustic guitars.
4 hours of this nonsense are kept somewhere in my old home.
-Spellbinder (1996-1997)
Eye grew a nice collection of small Yamaha keyboards
because for a long time Eye couldn’t afford a pro synth.
When Eye finally bought my old beat up Akai AX-80,
Eye started to gig under this extravagant moniker,
playing elaborated compositions with piano and harpsichord sounds.
Because of this project Eye was considered a “Goth” for many years.
-Plexus (1997)
Beatless cascades of thick sounds and synthetic textures.
AX-80, Juno-106, an FM tone generator & a Casio synth
separately taped in 2 individual stereo tracks (L/R).
Very few copies of this were distributed in 1998.
-Into Ether [with Adrián Sierra / Viktor A. & Dawn Atlas + guests]
Electronic dance music that could be considered maximal techno
influenced by the sound of analogue synthesizers on magnetic tape.
Live and / or studio collaborations include:
Frown ComPlex (1998-1999)
Cats On CracK (2000)
Mosquito [with Octavio De La Torre]
De:Construcción / Lemniscata / HMV52 [with Heibeg & Viktor Alzina]
Francisco López (On his "untitled sonic microorganisms")
Rafael Flores (On his "noche de los muertos")
Zan Hoffman (On his "here be monsters: aloof traipse"+)
UP [with Andrés Vazquez a.k.a. Nodashi]
Other works as Minuit:
Soundtracks for theater, dance troupes and independent short films.
Live improvisational backdrops for photography & art exhibitions.
Spoken word performance and live/mix for fashion shows.
MIDI & Recordings Studios:
-A cold storage space of spite
(My previous home studio in Tijuana, México)
-The BreedFactor Lab
(Owned and maintained by Héctor i.Benítez a.k.a. Heibeg)
-Sassafras studio
(Formerly held by Adam Joyce a.k.a. Trip Tribe in San Diego, CA)
+Klansoff's Gate Keeper, Out Records Hillcrest studio & El Domino.
Currently recording vocals & / or acoustic instruments (& / or writing lyrics)
in random rooms all over Barcelona, Madrid, Euskadi, Valencia, Paris, Udine & Salzburg. Also on trains, airports, radio & / or bus stations and public WCs.

My sentiments exactly:
Eye have got quite a good memory.
Especially when remembering events.
Unimportant knowledge probably doesn't exist to me at all,
because every little thing is a connection to something bigger.
This is how memories work. They are a bulk of impressions.
At night you have got all your thoughts and impressions of the day
in your machine up there, like file folders in a lot of boxes...
In those phases between dreams and waking up
the walls of those boxes tumble down and everything flows together.
That's how memories are created.
But that's also how creativity works.
Human consciousness has too much control over these boxes.
You need to pass out in order to let the information flow together.
As a creative person you need to sleep a lot.
Sometimes Eye struggle for hours to find the right expression
for a certain feeling... after a dream or two,
Eye find the words Eye was needing so badly.
Eye am addicted to constant creation and movement.
Eye can't function in the real world without being creative.
Most of the time Eye am machinating or in the studio tinkering
to find something that is good enough to be released.
And Eye am sitting there ruining my health.
Eye know that it would be better to lead a life without being creative
but what can I do? Music is my passion.
We are living in times when there are many people with technical skills
and financial means to produce art, which can be a kind of false art.
Eye don't see myself as a modern person,
and don’t feel particularly comfortable in the modern world
but Eye am creative and Eye keep on working to preserve my inner life,
call it sanity or spirit or reason for living.
The process of working with integrity, for me is very fulfilling.
All you can do is keep working in the direction you think is right for yourself.
William Blake worked till death.
The fact that he had a chaotic life
and still managed to work is a great inspiration.
The last thing he sent out for was a pencil to draw his wife!
That says it all for me.
Eye don’t spend ages agonizing over how my music is constructed,
although Eye do take my time making sure that everything sounds right.
This might seem like a total contradiction
but Eye think there should be a point
where you just have to be done with what you have,
otherwise one could spend years trying to perfect a single set of tracks.
Never change what you do for the sake of getting something released,
just be patient and eventually the right people will find you.
Haste makes waste.
Not interested in cracking markets or producing a commodity that sells.
Eye couldn’t give a damn about that.
It probably shows but Eye don’t care.
Eye loathe the new dj-go-lucky / rock star façade
and will do what Eye can to ensure that people know me
for who Eye am, warts and all.
Eye would never advise anyone to listen to my music
under the influence of drugs or (heavy) alcohol.
It is not only disrespectful to me but could also
provoke a very bad emotional experience.
Whenever someone takes cocaine,
this person thinks everything he does is fantastic,
when in fact it is a big pile of nonsensical rubbish.
Similar to marijuana addicts... Because
pot makes you lazy and easily satisfied.
Maybe Eye put too much pressure on myself to get things right.
Funny though, how they always say they are not addicted while they light up.
Eye find drug addiction (including tobacco and alcohol)
unfashionably obsolete, if nothing else... is it not?
Eye believe there are no acceptable levels of pollution.
Eye don’t salivate over gear, just over the prospect of making music.
Eye have a sense of community with other musicians
and friendships that are far more important
than the dictates of fashion and fad.
This is why Eye will work with anyone whose work Eye admire,
and who would approach me to collaborate, regardless of whether
that work is pop, neo-classical, techno, experimental or whatever.
Eye am very much against the tagging of music:
What the fuck is "world" music if it's all from this world?
We are segregated enough as people by territorial pissings & politics.
Everything has its own place in time and every kind of music fills a void.
It matters little to me if it's from Norway, Ireland, Brazil or Uranus.
Maybe Eye feel too much...
Eye want to live transmitting my thoughts through song or sounds
and hopefully, know that any of my songs, sometime
will elevate your spirit or touch a nerve somewhere.
Eye am fascinated by history, geography & culture,
music, people, art, noises and voices, nature & food.
Information can be extremely dangerous,
this does not mean ignorance is bliss.
Eye don't care about borders and consider racism an obstacle for progress.
Injustice in every corner can only be relieved
by furious bravery and the rupture of silence.
That is why Eye say:
Honor and enjoy the gift of freedom.
Be limitless.
