GOOD MORNING, AFTERNOON, AND EVENING!!! I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS TIME TO WELCOME YOU TO MY PAGE, WHERE YOU'LL FIND THAT I TRY TO DO MY BEST TO EXERCISE ALL OF YOUR SENSES. MY NAME IS JONATHAN LAWRENCE AND I HOPE YOU ENJOY WHAT YOU SEE AND HEAR, LETS GET LIFTED!!! Jonathan Lawrence is destined to join the list of artists who impact, reach, and inspire generations through the power of what music is and does.
He is no stranger to being under the microscope of an audience. At the tender age of 3, he was singing for his parents anniversaries and parties with his brother and sisters. He sang everyday, practicing and rehearsing for anything his father would let him sing at! “ I kind’ a can relate to the Jackson’s, Beyonce, and any other young person who had a parent run what they wanted to be! Just a little bit!â€... Since then his affinity for music has grown, allowing him to become a singer, writer, and dancer. Jonathan Lawrence is a pastor’s son. Raised in the church by hardworking parents, the pull of secular music was allot for him to ignore. As a listener and lover of music, Jonathan Lawrence was greatly inspired by John P. Kee, Whitney Houston, The Clark Sisters, Mattie Moss-Clark, Bebe & Cece Winans, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Nat King Cole, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Beyonce, John Legend, Brandy, just to name few. But it was during a church talent show when a 8-year-old Jonathan Lawrence knew he had a passion for singing. “My first time ever performing on stage was at a talent show at my church with my brother and my two sisters(who are also musically talented as well). I was about 8!!!.... We were called, "The Dance Kids".... And of course I was the lead singer!... We sang Yolanda Adams song, "Thank you Lord", off her album, "Through the Storm". That’s when everything began!â€... Jonathan Lawrence started singing at the early age of 3, but it was at the age of 16 when Apostle Gray, Pastor of The Greater New Victory Church in San Diego CA, anointed him to sing. Now, at the age of 23, he has sung at many occasions across the United States. Jonathan Lawrence has had the great opportunity to sing with some of music’s greatest voices. Some of these include The prince of gospel, John P. Kee(his mentor), Tonex, Broderick Rice, Sara Jordan Powell, The Katinas, Keshia Grandy ( from Kirk Franklin & the Family), Minister James “Dewitt†Johnson, Minister Eddie Baltrip, Sean Slaughter, Betty Nelson, Dr. Iris Stevenson (C.O.G.I.C. Minister of Music), Kennie Anderson, Mathew Burrell, Terrell Carter (from the Madea plays), Mother Jessie Stewart, David Allen, Ron Grant and many more. In 2005, Jonathan Lawrence was also afforded the privilege to sing in the Broadway Musical, Disney’s, “The Lion Kingâ€. He also has been chosen to sing for many Bishops, Pastors, Church’s, weddings, The U.S. Military, Universities, High Schools, Elementary Schools, Corporate Businesses, and City events. With all the things that come from being an entertainer and musician, once again, Jonathan Lawrence continues to give praise to his family and church, Greater New Victory C.O.G.I.C., two very positive influences in allowing him to express his talents in a pure and honest way. “Singing is my life and what I do best. Its what makes me happy the most("I sing because I’m happy")... Singing is who I am. Not Just what I do. God gave me the gift of song, and I cherish it with all my heart, because its in my heart. Who and what you are is not in your actions! Its in your heart!"... The strength and unwavering integrity of his musical talent are obvious in his strong vocal performances that are touched by R&B rhythms and laced with the truth often apparent in Gospel soul. His vocal range is incredibly out of this world. Reaching high notes, mimicking those such as Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Beyonce! There are artists who’ve got something, and there are artists who’ve got it, and upon hearing his voice for the first time, it’s obvious that Jonathan Lawrence is firmly in the latter category. With an irresistible blend of soul, R&B, gospel, and alternative music, he invokes greats from the past while bringing something totally new to the game. In the end, Jonathan Lawrence is an eclectic artist who cannot be singled out in just one genre of music or labeled as one type of entertainer. He is very versatile in what he does. He is everyone, yet no one you’ve ever seen or heard before, but when you do you’ll swear you’ve met him somewhere before, for the first time. Remember the face, the voice, the style, and the talent. By far one of the greatest voices of a younger generation, the unforgettable Jonathan Lawrence. -“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I WANT YOU TO TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK, LISTEN, TAKE IT ALL IN, THEN BREATHE IT IN AND LET IT OUT. BE BLESSED!!!†– J. LAWRENCE
