A song is worth a million words.

About Me

FIRST AND FOREMOST, I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE A BIG THANKS TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE THAT VIEWS THIS PAGE, AND/OR LISTENS TO MY WORK, YOU ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
I have always liked to be involved with art. I started drawing at an early age, and I started writing scripts and poems as an early teenager. So in the fall of 1998, at the age of 14, I decided that I wanted to try to create some music as well. The problem was, I didn't really have a clue to how I was going to do it, but I wanted to express myself through music the same way I liked to express myself through art and writing...to be heard in ways I can't be with spoken words alone. But my major problems were, I didn't have a CLUE about how to play ANY instruments. I had NO idea as to how to get started. I had even less knowledge about music theory and how to go about transferring my thoughts and feelings through music in general. I had no computer and no friends who were musicians, so I used the only resources I had...the cds I owned and a library up the street from my house. So from there, I studied all the bands I liked and listened to their music and techniques. I went to the library and checked out numerous books and magazines about music and bands, and from that, I gained alot of knowledge about musicians and how they started out. Most of my favorite artists started out playing guitar at an early age, so naturally, shortly after that, I obtained an acoustic guitar and I began teaching myself how to play. It was VERY frustrating at first, because I couldn't get my hands to do what I wanted them to, and I couldn't play any chords, so nothing sounded good. But shortly after that, I discovered guitar tabs featured in guitar magazines I had bought from the local grocery store, and I began learning how to read them, and how to play the songs. Slowly, I became better and better until I was able to start playing songs of my own and composing my very own music.
So shortly after that I decided that I couldn't play music alone...I needed a band, so I sat down with several of my friends at a pizza restaurant at a local mall and talked to them about it, and asked them if they wanted to pick up an instrument with me and attempt to play as a band together. So that's how my first band started.
Since then, I have played with several different bands, and numerous different musicians and have been able use music as an outlet for myself to convey art through sound. A while back, I FINALLY obtained a computer for the first time, and I began picking up even more things about music from the internet. I started learning more about electronic based music with synthasized sounds and programmed instruments. I learned the most about it from talking online to a friend of mine, and former bandmate, Jeff Smith aka Hateweaver . He showed me what he was able to do with electronic music, and it was by far the best solo music I had heard from someone. So after I heard his work, I have become interested in seeing what I can create through that avenue.
When time permits, I go to Jeff's studio and record some of my music. Check out his website at www.Hateweaver.com . He produces alot of my work. And with Myspace, I have been given the opportunity to share my music and other art out there for whomever may be interested .
Maybe someday I will be able to expand myself even further into the world of art, but in the meantime, I just want to say THANKS for taking the time to check out my music page, and hopefully you enjoy my music and my other work. Feel free to visit my personal page at www.myspace.com/sayntjaymz and also check out the page I made for my writing and scripts by going to www.myspace.com/seniorlegacy
