The Elmer Ferrer Band is a four-member electric blues group lead by Cuban guitar sniper, Elmer Ferrer. The rest of the band is made up of 23 year old Rodney Barreto on drums, 38 year-old Roberto Riverón on electric bass and Canadian (Ottawa) guitarist and singer 22 year-old Anders Drerup.Elmer has played in Tokyo, South Africa, South America, Spain and Germany as a sideman for many of Cubas top jazz groups. The Elmer Ferrer Band, as a group, has toured in Ottawa Canada and all over Cuba.It is not that unusual for Cuban musicians to become members of foreign groups but its extraordinary that a Canadian musician is a member of an all-star Cuban band.Well known Canadian and world music promoter, Paul Symes, reviewed the Elmer Ferrer Bands show of July 4th 2006:Elmers music is so far advanced a mix of Cuban jazz with Electric Blues. When you put those two things together, it was so ridiculously fast and beautifully played to the point it was almost unbelievable. I hire about 500 bands a year, and this one was in the top 5.- Paul Symes (www.blacksheepinn.com)Famous American electric guitarist, Chris Duarte, described Elmers guitar work as Awesome and Fantastico after having Elmer as a guest guitarist in his July 11, 2006 show at the Cisco Systems Ottawa Bluesfest.
