Ariadna Barbe-Villa, double bassist born in Matanzas, Cuba.
She graduated from the National School of Art (ENA) in Havana in 1994. While in Cuba, Ariadna participated in numerous festivals as well as the prestigious Amadeo Roldà n National Music Competition, receiving the First Prize and First Honorable Mention for excellence in interpretation of Cuban Music. In 1995 she came to the United States where she continued her studies with the prominent double bassist Lucas Drew at the University of Miami. In 2001 she graduated from University of Miami with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. In June of 2008, Ariadna graduated from Barry University with a Master's Degree in Educational Computing and Technology. Ariadna has performed with outstanding musicians such as Bobby McFerrin, Pepe Romero, Robert McDuffie, Plà cido Domingo, Leo Brouwer and more. She has also studied with Franco Petracchi, Carlos del Puerto Sr., Horacio Cabarcos, Nicky Orta, Joaquin Hernandez, and Mariano Pollet during private sessions. Ariadna is presently teaching and performing with different orchestras all over south Florida.
