Terry Clarke has been active as a singer on the Birmingham Jazz & Blues scene for several years. After sitting in with some of the regions major players, he is now branching out in his own right as a singer/songwriter and has recently finished recording his first album of original material. For the album Off The Rails Terry gathered together a stellar bunch of musicians, including pianists Edgar Macias and Steve Sherriff, horn players Ray Butcher, Sam Pearce and Gary Bywater and rhythm sections drawn from Miles Levin, Steve Street, Geoff Pearce and Mike Green. All seasoned professionals on the Jazz circuit.Very much in the Jazz Blues idiom with a liberal seasoning of swing, the albums ten tracks range from the moody laid back groove of Blue Train and Off The Rails to the more up tempo Harry And June and Groovin On A Breeze.By his own admission, Clarkes influences are extremely varied; from Chuck Berry to Mose Allison, taking in Louis Jordan, Hank Williams, Jimmy Witherspoon, Tom Waits and others too numerous to mention along the way! His live performances also feature covers of material from some of his favourite artistes.
