Sophia Angharad Johnson 22/07/1982 I was born in Birmingham and have lived here all my life. Music takes up most of my time, I have been playing the guitar since i was seven years old, I'm now a guitarist and I teach guitar in schools. I went to Birmingham University and I have a degree in English Literature and philosophy, I also have a big fat student loan and no answers, so now I mainly read crime fiction. My two passions are for bluegrass flatpicking and gypsy jazz, I think this is because both genres are essentially acoustic, there are no drums so the rhythm comes from the bass and the guitar/mandolin. Both styles require a high level of technical skill and the ability to improvise within a structured framework. Also they are both fast and flashy and lots of fun to play!!I write songs, play lead guitar and sing harmony vocals in the Toy Hearts (My dad and little sister are also in the band.) My guitar is a Martin D28CW- Yes Yes Yes!!!! and I also play a Gitane D-500.My favourite audience comments: "You're pretty good.. for a girl..." "Was that you playing the guitar?... you don't look capable of it..." "I enjoyed your singing..." "Why don't you go on x-factor?" "Your skirt is too short" "you should be in girls aloud"
