Knowledge Over Nonsense. It's more than a name, more than a statement; it's a state of mind. It's being in a zone where you are above the norm and mediocrity. Where you allow yourself to be experimental and adventurous…not sit around and wait for things to happen. Born and raised in Jackson Heights/Corona, Queens and growing up in a Cuban household, Kon was exposed to a variety of Latin music at an early age. His father being practically raised in the U.S. was an avid collector of Old Latino Boleros and Soul music from the 60's and 70's which greatly influenced and helped shape his musical character. He started freestyling at a young age and began writing seriously at the age of 14. Fed up with the lack of love coming from the producers in his neighborhood, Kon started creating his own beats. His thirst for knowledge pushed him to want more. Having an opportunity to advance his talent, he worked and saved enough money to help pay for an audio engineering degree at I.A.R. Eventually owning his own studio, Kon was able to build a solid client base. He began performing at venues such as "The Court Tavern" and participating in Beat Battles at the famous "NuyoRican Poets Cafe" and "Knitting Factory". He’s appeared on "NY Underground" on Mun2 and many of his productions have been aired on Hot 97 during DJ Camilo's segment as well as NJ College Radio Show "WRSU: Beneath the Surface". His style remains fresh by blending old techniques with new technology, and new "Technics" with old technology. His natural ability to lay down the music he hears in his head gives him a flavor all of his own. A unique sound the masses can identify with…not one of Kons beats is similar to the next.
