Born in 1981 in the Dominican Republic, I was raised in a poverty stricken community; one plagued with violent crimes, and surrounded with alcohol and drug abuse. At the age of 17, I came to the conclusion that I would either end up dead; or become a positive product of my 3rd world environment.
My mother, always a hard working provider for me and my brother, was presented with the opportunity to come to the states. Being that she was having an extremely difficult time making ends meet, the choice was easily made. We came to the states in the early 80’s in the hopes of a better and brighter future.
Upon my arrival, I was quickly taken aback by the hip hop culture. More specifically, the ability to express myself in a cluster of words creatively put together to deliver the emotion that I was feeling inside. I was first exposed to Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Rakim, and Public Enemy, to mention a few.
In retrospect, I understand the reason why I began writing verses. It served, and continues to serve, as an emotional outlet for the pressures I am under. You see, coming to the states with the urgency to follow that better life, led me to chase that “quick buckâ€. I began as a look-out for drug deal transactions, moved up to drug money handler and deliverer, and soon ran my own corner. The income was substantial, until the authorities began cracking down on the illegal activities in the neighborhood. I was in too deep.
Feeling frustrated, confused and extremely aggravated with pending court cases, life, money and the like, writing is the only thing I can do to alleviate these pains. Verbally releasing my written words is the most sensational and thrilling activity that I have been fortunate enough to experience. I strongly await the opportunity to reach thousands with my story.There's not much that's needed to be said the music speaks for itself.Anybody that knows me get at me.... If U Don't Still Get @ Me
