I met Irene Bedard – May 12, 2007
Hey, I got to meet and hang out with Irene Bedard who starred in “Into the West†a 2005 TV miniseries produced by Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks. Irene is probably best known as the voice of the main character in the Disney animated film Pocahontas. For those of you who never saw “Into the Westâ€, go to the following link and check it out.
Into the West
The show was a very moving account of America’s exploitation of the real Americans, the Native Americans.

19th Annual American Indian Cultural Days – May 12, 2007
San Diego California online was proud to promote and cover this event. This year’s festivities were incredible. There were stands set up selling handcrafted Native American jewelry, traditional American Indian drumming, flute music, bird singing, dancing, and folklore. As if all this wasn’t enough, Irene Bedard was there. You can read more about Irene in the comments above. For those of you who missed out, the festival continues tomorrow. Check it out.

Cultural Entertainment in the Park - Poland. Every Sunday the House of Pacific Relations International Cottages puts on a free show from 2 pm until 3 pm. During this hour you can experience the sights and sounds and tastes of the featured country. This is kind of like traveling without traveling. I go to this every week. For those of you unfamiliar with this program, you really should go and check it out. This week was Poland featuring dancers of different ages performing in their native costumes. There was a really good turnout today. Hoping to see even more of you next week. Interested what others thought.

Cinco De Mayo – May 5, 2007
We went to a community festival in the morning and headed out to Old Town for Cinco De Mayo in the afternoon for the 24th Annual Old Town Cinco de Mayo – Hey this was totally awesome. Easily the best event of the day. Many stages set up with many bands including music from South America. Cool products for sale and a pretty well-behaved crowd. Parking was really awful for most but we got San Diego California online V.I.P. press parking, oh yeah. The night time crowd was a bit out of control, but plenty of San Diego’s Finest for control. The drinks were expensive as usual with Margaritas running around $7.50 a cup. Conclusion – really good time. Interested what others thought.

Samba Lessons - April 29, 2007
Hey I finally went out for my beginning lesson in Samba drums in Balboa Park today. I am wearing the yellow shirt. This was freaking incredible. The drums are pretty lightweight and are meant to be carried in a parade for hours like during carnival in Brazil. Along with the musicians there were the Samba dancers who were really talented, and um, really cute too. Thanks to Akiko for taking lots of pictures. A special thanks to the Super Sonic Samba School for letting me join them today. Now planning to make this part of my weekly schedule. Thanks to Selenia, Dale, Esteban, Jaime, and all the other cool people who showed up. See you guys next week.
Akiko’s Birthday - April 28, 2007
Akiko turned 27 today and we went out and enjoyed ourselves. I made a nice breakfast including asparagus omelets, bagels, yogurt and coffee. We spent the day at La Jolla and went to lots of touristy areas and took tons of pictures. We ate a picnic lunch at La Jolla Cove and then walked around town. We came home and I spent the afternoon in the kitchen making tons of lasagna. We ate dinner out on the patio, watched the sunset, and got totally drunk, while finishing two really nice bottles of wine including a Cabernet and a Merlot. Along with lasagna, we ate salad, garlic bread and BBQ chicken right off the grill. What a nice day it was.
Fishing at Ocean Beach - April 25, 2007
Yup, we went fishing at Ocean Beach again. Pretty unusual because we actually caught nothing. At least it was a nice day to relax. The surf was incredibly high and actually hitting the walking area of the pier. The surfing was incredible though with sets coming every few seconds. Then we went to the farmer’s market and listened to a band playing in the street. The picture of the bus is like a hippee bus. Pretty cool. Anyway, gonna try again this weekend. Probably the last time for awhile because tons of events coming up the next few weeks. I know many of you are planning to meet me at these events. I made it easier for everyone and posted my schedule on the other side of this page. See you this weekend at the events. Until then.
EarthFair 2007 - April 22, 2007
San Diego California online was happy to promote this important event. This was the best turnout in years. The sunshine helped to bring an estimated 80,000 people to Balboa Park for EarthFair 2007 and the Multi-Cultural Earth Day 2007 Concert on the other side of the park. There were so many people, there was barely enough room to walk but what a great time. The parade began around 10:30 am including members of San Diego California online, with me as Enviro. The day continued with exhibits and music throughout the park. There was something for everyone. Thanks to those of you who came out and participated.
Multi-Cultural Earth Day - April 22, 2007
This was the other event in Balboa Park. In a word, awesome. There was shopping and no shortage of interesting people to meet. This was a Day of Music, Celebration and Science for the entire family. All Races, All People, all Families! Featuring: Elijah Emanuel and The Revelations, Albino; Afro-Beat from San Francisco, Mili Mili World Music From Los Angeles, Al Howard & the K-23 Orchestra – San Diego, Quinto Sol Alierta; from Columbia, Bolga Zohdoomah - Highlife from Ghana, Sibtil from Martinique. If you were there, then you know. If you stayed home....well there's always the next event.
Temple Emanu-El Ground Breaking Ceremony - April 15, 2007
San Diego California online was honored to participate in the ground breaking ceremony for the new Temple Emanu-El Synagogue and other supporting facilities. Rabbi Martin S. Lawson and the Temple Emanu-El congregation will realize the fulfillment of their dream sometime during the Fall of 2008. A special thanks to Congresswoman Susan A. Davis and San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders for their continuing support of Temple Emanu-El and the Jewish Community of San Diego. Check out event pictures
House of India - April 8, 2007
Hey, you guys missed a really nice performance and a really good time today. The House of India, a member of the House of Pacific Relations, put on an incredible show. Probably many of you know nothing about these cultural performances in Balboa Park every Sunday. This is a good way to experience other cultures and expand your mind. I learn something new each time I attend. Check out event pictures
Fishing Pictures – March 31, 2007
Yup, finally got out to the Ocean Beach pier for a bit of fishing. Still a bit chilly in the morning but warmed up pretty quickly once the sun came out.
The next picture really shows the length of the pier. The restaurant and bait shop are pretty close to the end of the pier and the restaurant is always packed on the weekends.
This was the sunrise over the mountains. Doesn’t get much better than getting up really early, heading out to the beach, and experiencing the sights, sounds, and smells of the ocean. Gonna be many trips out there from now until the end of the summer. Any of you are welcome to join anytime. Keep watching this page and bulletins for future trips. San Diego California online
GNABA Meeting - March 29, 2007
San Diego California online was invited to attend The Greater Navajo Area Business Association meeting held at the Mission Trails Visitor's Center on March 29th, 2007. This was a joint effort of the newly formed association and the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation.
There was a good turnout with over 100 businesses represented. A special thanks to the Robert Nenow Winery for supplying truly delicious wine ranging from Merlot to Cabernet Savignon. Thanks also to the Firehouse Brewery Company for supplying beer. More pictures
St. Patrick's Day – March 17, 2007
San Diego California online was the main promoter for the Irish festival in Balboa Park on March 17th. Preliminary estimates put the attendance at about 40,000 people. This was a really good day for the Irish and for San Diego California online. The parade contained about 160 entries and the food stands and beer garden were excellent. Thanks again to everyone for getting involved in the community and attending this special event.
Back in San Diego - March 2007
Why am I happy to be back in SD? After 6 months abroad promoting my English language learning website, the International EFL Cafe, it was finally time to return home and focus on my San Diego California online company. This is the view from my veranda and a bottle of wine. Nothing more relaxing than taking some time away from work and watching the sunset with a glass of wine. Yup, good to be back in San Diego for sure. Now looking forward to the weekend. Find out what's going on this weekend
The Best Night in Japan

Nara, Japan - November 2006
Walking through the streets of Nara, Japan with a case of Japanese discount beer. Doesn't get much cooler than that, does it?
Kyoto, Japan - October 2006
Hey whatever you think I’m doing….you’re wrong!! This is the view at Amano Hashidate in the Kyoto prefecture of Japan. You’re supposed to look at this view through your legs for some reason. Not sure why though.

Cat's Diary
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed
hash or some sort of dry nuggets.
Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear,
I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt
to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its head at their feet.
I had hoped this would strike fear into them, since
it clearly demonstrates my capabilities.
However, they merely made condescending comments about
what a "good little hunter" I am..... Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight.
I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.
However, I could hear noises and smell the food.
I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies".
I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking.
I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges.
He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return.
He is obviously retarded.
The bird must be an informant.
I observe him communicating with the guards regularly.
I am certain that he reports my every move.
My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.
For now...
