About Me

I’m from a small, rural town in NY. Not NYC. Yes it’s true, there is a whole state in addition to the city! Where I’m from there’s a lot of farmland, hay, wheat, and corn fields, forests, lakes and streams, mountains and valleys, and no skyscrapers. The closest mall is about 45 mi away, and there are only about 2500 people that reside in my hometown. I currently live in Costa Mesa, CA. I moved here for 2 main reasons; grad school and the weather. I love NY in the summer, but when there’s 8+ months of winter and you hate cold weather there comes a point when you say enough is enough. When the temp is 40 degrees below zero, and the snow is 20 feet deep, you come to that point real quick. So here I am in beautiful, sunny, warm SoCal, where instead of having only a couple months of warm weather, I have only a couple months of cold weather. And even then cold temps here are relative, b/c it rarely gets colder than 50, and that’s only at night.
I do however, miss my family and friends immensely! There’s my parents who have been happily married for 31 years now. They have been the best parents and role models a girl could ask for. They have shone much strength and courage, and provided me with much love, support, and guidance throughout my life. Without them, I wouldn’t be who or where I am today. I also have a sister who’s 3 yrs younger and brother 6 yrs younger than me. Then there’s my angelgirl: my little sister! My parent’s miracle baby from a failed vasectomy, who is 20 yrs younger than me. There’s also my other 2 angels, my sister’s daughter who’s 2 & 1/2 and my brother’s son who’s 8 mos. I love and miss them all so much! I also have 7 Aunts and Uncles, and 22 cousins and their families. All but 7 live in NY. And I would never leave out all of my amazing friends. I am very blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life. I love and miss everyone back home! I’ve made some awesome friends here too though!
In addition to family and friends, things that I love: LOVE music (the one true universal language that breaks all barriers and connects people from all cultures). As I said, music is in my soul, so I love most any music. I almost always have music playing. I used to play violin, Alto sax, and a little piano and flute. I was in chorus, marching band, concert band, and jazz band until 9th grade. I was also a square dance caller until junior high. I love sports! Pretty much all sports. Both to watch and to play. Much of who I am is due to sports. I love to travel and have been to 5 different countries and 39 states. I would love to do more traveling, however grad school doesn’t allow much time for it. I spend my vacations going back to NY to visit loved ones. Love cars, trucks, motorcycles, 4 wheelers, boats, etc … basically anything with a motor! With the exception of a big rig, monster truck, bus, train, or big equipment like dump trucks and bulldozers, if it has a motor, I’ve driven it. Love watching movies at home or the theater. Love dancing, singing, hanging out with friends, animals (though I currently don’t have any pets), waterfalls, the beach, mountains, rainbows, thunderstorms, (I love to become totally submersed in the beauty of nature), people, psychology, politics, drawing and painting, building things, and anything that challenges me. I am completely honest, and hate when someone is dishonest with me. I’m not afraid to tell it like it is. I stand up for myself, my beliefs, and those who cannot defend themselves. If you ask for my opinion, I’ll share it, but if you don’t want to hear the truth, don’t ask. I have a strong faith in God and myself, however I believe everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion and accept them for who they are without judgment. I am very patriotic and love the American flag; it's colors and all it symbolizes. I strongly support our military men and women as they bravely fight to protect our country and defend those who need our help. I am extremely independent, but through life’s challenges have learned that you can’t do everything on your own and sometimes you have to ask for help. I am somewhat of a perfectionist, at least with my artwork and schoolwork. I am very determined, my mom would say stubborn. I just know what I want in life and will not accept anything less. However, I am also willing to work really hard and make tough sacrifices to get what I want. I love life and am a very happy person in spite of all the difficulties that come my way. I am a survivor and am always up for a challenge! Well, there’s a glimpse of who I am. Anything else you want to know, just ask!!!
MUCH LOVE!!
