OUR GOAL Our Goal: Support our Troops by adopting a soldier and providing Him/Her the morale boost by sending letters, cards, pictures from children, and special care packages periodically. Make them feel needed and special and sense our deep gratitude for their military service in this time of need.
HOW TO ADOPT A SOLDIER*********SOLDIER REQUESTS WILL NOT BE FILLED THROUGH MYSPACE. PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW*********
If you are interested in adopting a soldier please send (through regular EMAIL) your contact information (Name, Phone, Email, and Mailing Address) along with which type of adoption you would like to do to [email protected]
Here are your options:
1. Regular Adoption: You can sign up to adopt a deployed soldier. By doing this you agree to send regular letters, cards for every holiday including birthdays and send a care package once a month.
2. Adopt a Wounded Soldier: There are many soldiers that have been injured and returned home. They are needing many different things since they have returned home. First and foremost they need money as well as letters and packages. We are working to build homes for the many wounded soldiers that are returning home that have no where to return to. We are currently building a home in Springhill, LA for SPC Kyle Burleson. We are currently raising funds to build a home for Bobby and Tommy Guinn who are currently in the Dallas VA Medical Center. They are from Overton Texas and in desparate need of a home.
3. Send Money: If you don't have time to give you are always welcome to send money that will be used to care for the soldiers.
4. Volunteer: We need various volunteers to help us adopt soldiers in your local communities. We also need help marketing, please tell all of your friends and family to help out. (If you would like a banner or letter to send out contact us and we will send this to you)
5. Letters: If you would just like to send letters or cards that is an option as well. We will be forming a Birthday Committee soon so that soldiers will receive several cards and letters on their birthday.
Thanks for your support!

THE FOUNDER'S STORY
Janet Brady, the founder of Adopt a Soldier is an American Airlines flight attendant, and has a personal interest in this mission. Her son, Army Private First Class Anthony Landers, was tragically killed last July in a freak car accident while stationed Honolulu, Hawaii. He was only 19 years old and a 2001 graduate of McKinney High School. In his memory, and to channel her grief, Janet has started an Adopt a Soldier program to send care packages to U.S. troops abroad. Janet begun the challenge of organizing care packages for over 300 men in her sons battalion, who are now stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At Anthonys suggestion, Janet began sending care packages to other members of her sons battalion. Since losing her son, Janet wants to continue sending care packages. She has requested that members of the McKinney community volunteer to adopt a soldier and commit to sending that soldier several care packages over the next twelve months.
While spending the many hours of time and effort that it takes to organize the hundreds of care packages for American troops, Janet never forgets that her young soldier son is the one who served as the inspiration for it all.
I feel like Anthonys Life made it possible, And his death makes it necessary -- Janet Brady
One person can make a difference, and you can be that person by adopting a soldier, and showing him or her that someone cares. Not only will you be boosting the morale of a member of our military, but you might even end up making a new friend.
