Rest in Peace Peter De Wilde

About Me

On the 20th of November 2007 Greyn's guitar player Peter De wilde passed away after a difficult battle with severe cancer. Rest in Peace Peter. We will miss you terribly!Greyn WAS one big rocking dysfunctional family made up of a New York born female singer and her 4 surrogate Belgian brothers. Considering they could hardly agree on anything let alone find time to work it all out, it's pretty amazing they have any songs at all to show for themselves. With that said, this K-town based band did have their share of fun and were feeling quite pleased with and excited by their recent recordings, which were a wide preview of what was to come on their first full-length CD meant to be due out some time in 2007. Greyn decided to stop kicking the dead horse finally on Wednesday the 11th of October 2006. So if anyone out there is searching for musicians, some of us from Greyn are now up for grabs! Get em while they are hot! Or wait a while. Whatever. It was fun while it lasted and all good things come to an end and all that. Thanks for listening to Greyn's tunes! Have a goody! And please remember Peter De Wilde through some of the music he left behind...

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: gone daddy gone! We don't exist anymore!
Band Members: Until Greyn called it quits on Wednesday the 11th of October 2006, Greyn's members were: Sarah Markewich (New York-Kortrijk) - singer, baker and big-mouth; Peter Dewilde (Peter sadly passed away on 20 November 2007 after a hard battle with cancer - may he rest in peace) (Wetteren)- Guitar, backing vocals and Mr. Nice guy; Jan Dhaene - keyboards, good-looks and groupie-magnet; Tom Deman (Waregem) - Bass and serious face; Filip Tanghe (Kortrijk) - drums, sweat and noise-maker... ANYONE LOOKING FOR A SINGER?????!!!!
Influences: Sarah the singer loves Zita Swoon and Ani Difranco but grew up on Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. She also dabbled in Iron Maiden and Accept for a while and was a huge (pre-1984) Van Halen fan and followed Living Colour around for a couple of years. She'd love to think Greyn's music could capture the best of all of the above but sadly she'll never have a bulge in her jeans as big as Robert Plant does. And as much as her Early-80s feathered-hair days are coming back, her hard-rocking -- as well as her pot-smoking hippy days -- are behind her... Before he passed away on 20 November 2007 from a hard battle with cancer, Peter the guitar player was full of 1990s guitar rock influence. The boy couldn't help himself. There was no escaping it. We'll miss his sounds! Jan the keyboard-player, Tom the bass player and Filip the drummer don't talk much about the music that runs through their veins and turns them on. If you can figure out who they are stealing their riffs from, let us know!
Sounds Like: What other people have said about various Greyn songs and sounds : Sleater-Kinney (vocals), PJ Harvey (vocals and sound) meets Primus (bass), some 4AD sound-scapey stuff, The Gossip (if sped up and given more bass), Grace Slick (manly-vocals), Nathalie Merchant (vocals), Magnapop (Route 59)... we're actually wondering with our 4 new songs so feel free to let us know...
