Shore Leave is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Merijn Landuyt, who managed to side with four gifted and congenial musicians. Violin player Mathijs Bertel, bass player Jan Dhaene, drummer Koen Degand and guitar player Gerben Hemelsoen have one passion in common: to look for and ticker at honest songs, in order to put their story across to the listener.
Shore Leave’s first EP Wash ashore – low tide was officially introduced to the press and the audience in a succesful concert at ‘Bij de Vieze Gasten ‘ in Ghent (Belpop: “... a fanning out of sounds that by times reminded us of Arcade Fire light and fellow townsmen Absynthe Minded). Wash ashore – low tide gained a lot of approval and Shore Leave is working hard on a successor.

Digg: â€Can’t you see what I’ve Become could as well have been a track on Calexico’s Feast of Wire.â€
Cuttingedge: â€Wash ashore – low tide is full of inspired songs in which violin, guitar and clarinet are constantly duelling in an exciting way. ... Shore Leave offers the courage, the spirit and variety of kindred spirits such as Calexico and DAAU with songs who immediately find their way into your ear.
LeSoir.be: “Si le couple de la voix et le violon rappellent inévitablement les deux compères du Velvet Underground Lou Reed et John Cale, la section rythmique permet au groupe de montrer qu'il a de nombreuses cordes à son arc.â€
Shore Leave concerts took place in De Kreun (Bissegem), at Kinky Star Club (Ghent), on Muzikale Dinsdagen (Ieper), in Folkcentrum (Dranouter), ...
