I have always felt passionate about the world of art in general. It is something I have been interested in and drawn to from a very early age. As a child I was involved in many amateur dramatics, musical and dancing performances but due to personal circumstances I was unable to continue with my performance studies. Life led me into full time employment and I began to realise that this was not such a bad thing after all. I began to develop and grow as a person and understand the pressure of being independent in the real world. It made me realise how much I wanted to perform and that it was not just a phase I was going through. Once I had the opportunity to return back to college I was as prepared as one can be to give up luxuries. The BTEC National Diploma of Acting gave me the chance to begin work once again in the field of being a performer. I would describe myself as being a hard working individual who takes the time to reflect. I am on Myspace just for networking DRIFTRUN LIVE ON STAGE

The 25-year-old Sheffield actress took her professional bow last night when she played the lead role of Desiree in Dies Irae, by Edward Baker.Currently studying performing arts at Hallam University she's hoping it could be her big break. And she very much deserves it. Not only is the former Wisewood School Pupil a promising actress she's also an all round good kid. Raquel had a late start in acting because she delayed her studies for three years so she could look after her four brothers and sisters when her mum fell ill. Having already shown her versatility on the amateur stage – playing parts in everything from Shakespeare to Jack the Ripper – she's being tipped for the top. But she's a bashful sort. She says: "I couldn't have got this far without the help of my lecturer Jo Beadle at Norton College." Dies Irae is at the Library Theatre, Norfolk Street until Saturday.
