When a genre of music broadens to become nearly indefinable, the most progressive sounds come from only the genuinely passionate. Lost Role Models has pioneered the exploding North Bay hip-hop movement with their unique blend of melodic vocal harmonies and crisp sounding live instruments. An eclectic mix of samples add flavor, manipulating the music's raw energy.
Comprised of Rick V (22), Adam C (21), and Cole Gibson (19) the group of four years has toured Northern and Southern California, sharing stages with other notable acts, like Bicasso, of the Living Legends Crew, Canibus, Radioactive, Lyrics Born, Furious Minds, Ozomatli, Cake, Shotgun Wedding Quintet, The Cuff (Deep Fried Funk Brothers), DJ Icewater, Sol Horizon, and North Bay favorite, Spoken Art. The Lost Role Models live show is consistently fresh. They share a dynamic on stage that exudes a strong emotional presence, the perfect medium for their intense lyrical style.
With their second independently released album, "Mockingbird," LRM follows up their previous, unofficial record, "Passion." The latest, mostly produced by Rick V and Adam C, displays the group's insatiability for pushing hip hop's limits. Distinct Jazz, Grunge, and even emo rock influences are woven throughout the tracks on "Mockingbird."
As Lost Role Models poise themselves at what they still consider only the beginning, they remain focused on what has always been most important, their music and fans. Each member is active in supporting Bay Area skateboarding, graffiti art, and various music scenes. Lost Role Models plan to continue exposing their music both locally and through travel. Their creativity and innovation will continue to motivate them toward each of their future endeavors.words by Joe B.
