What Got you into DnB?
When I was 14 or 15, I heard my first Grooverider tape @ Fusion, Sterns, and was hooked til about 98. My tastes changed when the liquid started coming through and got into my hip hop. It wasnt until my cousin bought up a Andy C tape in 2000 that I found my re-born faith in DnB.
When did you start producing DnB?
I was producing Hip Hop with Sayber back in 2000-01 (I think!) and when I was introduced to DnB again, it only seemed natural to resume the production with DnB, Bad Ace sat down, showed me the ins-an-outs of Fruity4 and FLStudio, i feel ive the potential to make an artillery of Killer tunes! Recently started in Reason but thats gonna take me a little while til i can finish a tune properly in that.
Where did your name originate from?
Ive had numerous names since I starting out, many too embarrassing to mention or found out that name was taken already, Ive always been a bit reckless crossing roads, and I thought Jay-Walker. Was fitting.
Where are you from?
Ive lived in the south of England all my life, mostly in Bordon, Hampshire where I met Bad Ace & Sayber, but ive been living in Aldershot for the past 2 years or so, where I met the Bad Man Reapa!
Describe your music in 3 words
Aggressive, Manical, Noise! lol
Which producers do you feel are bringing the most to DnB at the moment?
Production-wise all-day, every-day Bad Ace Inc, ive followed his rise from his early tunes, and my jaw drops every time I hear one of his tunes. With an unparallel level of production which some released artist blatently fail to pick up on, I can hardly wait for he comes up with next! Other production- props to Diode, GPK, Spor, Chase & Status & Noisia for setting a new era in Drum & Bass.
How long have You been djing for?
Over 10 years
How did you get into mixing?
I got my first DnB record down in Portsmouths Fusion records, It was Ganja 001 You must think first DJ Hype, I wore it out with a shitty needle on my first set of decks one didnt even have a pitch on it, and the other was an early Technics deck with a start-up speed of about 10 seconds! The mixers was some industrial-looking X-faderless hunk of metal, propped up with two bits off brick, coz the wires went in underneath the mixer. A friends neighbour sold me 2x 1210s and a Soundlab mixer for £250 quid and its been all good since then.
