BIO:
C-Child (formely Sparky C) started getting into dance music such as the Prodigy around the age of 12, which later developed into a love for drum and bass at about 15. Just over 5 years ago when he turned 16 he started DJing and has been developing his mixing abilities and finding his style ever since. C-Child's tastes cover the whole D&B spectrum - "I dont really like to pigeonhole myself to one particular sub genre within drum and bass. I play a lot of liquid if the moods right but I also play a lot jump-up, classics, rollers, the anthems people want to hear, as well as a few darker bits. The main thing for me is to show a bit of originality, whether it be playing unsigned records you wouldn't normally hear, throwing in unexpected teases or doing short bursts of scratching. I think as long as you have originality, technical ability and you know what the crowd want, you can give people a set they'll enjoy." Some of C-Child's current favourite producers range from the likes of Logistics, Total Science and Artificial Intelligence to DJ Fresh, Pendulum, Blame, Chase and Status, Sub Focus, as well as artists such as Limewax, Unknown Error and Spor.
Like all DJs, C-Child started out mixing in the bedroom, which soon led on to playing at house parties and small one-off events hosted in such clubs as 'The Loft' and 'River Bar' in Maidstone. This continued until the beginning of 2005 when he obtained his first residency with Mister Rags playing fortnightly at Medication (River Bar - Maidstone) alongside DJ's such as DJ Tang (former DMC finalist) and Mr Thing (ex-Scratch Pervert). It was here C-Child was noticed by Shimme Flex promoter DJ A.G who invited him to begin playing at his monthly event at Pulse Club in Chatham. During this time he was able to DJ alongside the likes of Dr S Gachet, Darren Jay and DJ Dice.
Around this time, C-Child became involved with the good people at www.witnessthesickness.co.uk which at the time was a small internet radio station that had only recently began broadcasting. Nowdays Witness The Sickness is a far bigger name within the Drum & Bass scene boasting regular press in Knowledge Magazine and past involvement from DJs such Unknown Error, DJ Dready and Dieselboy. C-Child's show can still be heard on the 2nd Monday of every month 11pm-12pm on the new relaunched www.witnessthesickness.co.uk (November 2007).
Late 2005 shortly after completing a BTEC National Award in DJ Technology, C-Child with the help of Charlie Richards began to set up his own event named 'Rebirth'. Confirmed DJs for the launch party included Unknown Error, DJ Dready and DJ Fusion. Unfortuantely, the venue for Rebirth, 'Club B-Lo' was closed down a week before the event and didn't go ahead.
As well as continuing to DJ, C-Child has also been spending a lot of time in the studio working on solo projects and collaborations with new production partner 'General Disarray'. He is also currently working on starting up Rebirth again (under a new name) and it promises to be bigger and better than the plans for Rebirth made November 2005. With this in the pipeline as well as C-Sounds Radio, increasing numbers of live performances and possible involvement with another internet radio station, things can only get bigger for C-Child.
