Matthew Maynard
The younger of the Manchester-based brothers; Matthew Maynard aged at just 15, took great influence in Drum & Bass when he was at the age 11 in which he bought his first Mix tape CD of the genre. After hearing aspiring artists such as, Calyx, Konflict, and Noisia.
Before his practical creation in music, Matt first got involved with Graphic Design, designing aspects of a Small Computer Game project he made, including logos and banners, and much more sinister aspects such as Character design and Modeling, not to mention programming. After finishing his successful project, he decided to take change and look at another route.
Matt first got involved with the DnB scene, after seeing his brother perform in a metal band at the time of 2005, taking great inspiration in his brothers actions, Matt decided to practice music in the form of Electronically Computer music, when experimenting with musical software in the year of 2006.
After composing music as a general hobby, Matt later in the year, decided to try and take his talent further as a professional musician in the Drum & Bass scene.
Jonathan Maynard
Jon started to make music at the age of 11 after being given an old acoustic guitar by his grandfather. As Jon continued to teach himself guitar and improve, he started numerous bands that never really got off the ground.
At the age of 14, Jon joined the band "People Of No Description" (a.k.a PoNd) playing bass for the band. Later that year, Jon switched to playing his natural instrument for the band and began to play a few small shows, the first being in the local skate park. The band then went on to play larger gigs and played eventually up to twice a month in local bars and pubs. In May 2005, PoNd played at the Emergenza festival and came first in the first Manchester heat. Later that year, PoNd split due to musical differences.
In late 2005, Jon co-founded metal band AsSkiesFall and went on to play yet more live shows. After recording 2 EP’s, the band decided to call it a day in Summer 2006, again, due to musical differences.
Towards the end of the 2006 Summer, Jon decided to make his own music, creating ambient music under the name Overtype. In late 2006, Matt joined Jon in Overtype and then began merging their two styles together.
During early 2007, Overtype changed their name to Redcell and began growing in popularity on Myspace. After numerous songs being released in mid 2007 over Myspace, Redcell caught the attention of Australian label Little Rascal Records (LRR). After various discussions with LRR, Redcell was offered a contract.
During the talks with LRR, Redcell changed their name to Solistice due to copyright issues, and then continued the process with LRR. During early July, Solistice signed to the LRR label, and made official on 31st July 2007.
At present time, Jon is spending all available time on Solistice. Jon also spends time with his girlfriend Hayley, and is beginning work on a new side project with 2 members from AsSkiesFall.
Joe Brindle Aka; Krafty_pk
Throughout his High School and College years was involved in the metal scene playing guitar in various bands mainly just for recordings, but has always been open minded when it comes to music. Bands such as Linkin Park opened his mind to the world of electronic production. From here he purchased a Computer and Reason 3. While using his trusty Casio cz101, Joe started producing Heavy DnB, using his metal influences to gain an edge in a saturated scene.
Nowadays Krafty_pk runs his own night, named "UNJUST", in Preston which is predominantely a dnb night but everything from dubstep to breakcore is dropped, as a result it has gained a reputation of providing the best underground music around
’Its not about the big names for me, I love
The energy that fresh artists bring to the scene, we have music ranging from dubstep to breakcore, and electro to hip hop, spread across two rooms we
have enough to keep everyone happy!’
Joe also has his own radio show on www.witnessthesickness.co.uk, bringing you bags full of exclusives and again; a unique style that no other station allows him to do. Joe also appears on other radio shows such as www.chorley.fm on Meechas Adrenaline Sessions, and www.unityradio.co.uk with S-Man and Co. He also sets up live sets at nights such as Metropolis, Decibel and Night Riderz, amongst his own residency at Unjust.
At the moment Krafty_pk is producing Breakcore, DnB and Mashcore Crossover tunes, bringing his unique style wherever he goes. Joe has been DJing for 3 years now, initially using his own turntables to rinse out his heavy DnB side.
Over the past year or so, Joe’s performance has turned into a live show using his Laptop, Turntables, Synths and Effects Unit’s to keep the scene entertained!
’There’s nothing worse for me than watching a DJ hide behind his turntables with no crowd interaction, no matter how good they are!’
Now joining Solistice as their live DJ, Joe brings Solistice’s music to the fellow DnB Heads out there!
Nice one Krafty ;)!
