About Me
DJ VERDICT
Verdict has performed in over 60 different club events rangeing up to a capacity of 1200 people. He has performed just before, in-between or after DJ's such as: ANDY C, PENDULUM, DILLINJA, DJ HYPE, ADAM F, BRYAN G, RAY KEITH, MAMPI SWIFT, NICKY BLACKMARKET, RUFFSTUFF, FUNKYFLIRT, EZ ROLLERZ, APHRODITE and RONI SIZE. He has had MC's such as RIDDLA, FLYTE, FLEXIMUS, DARRISON, MEKAR, SENSE, FEVER and MC FLUX perform on his sets. Verdict and Flux have been working together in the studio and as a DJ/MC partnership for 2 years now performing at raves and on radio. Since he had his first set back in 2004 he has had the opportunity to play across the U.K. He moved away from London hitting Southampton to study a degree course in Digital Music Production in late 2006, since then he has established his self as one of the front running up and coming dnb artists in the area with residencies under his belt.
In Southampton he has been focusing on his production skills and has come a long way playing his own tracks out in his sets. The response he has got from the crowds and friends in the industry is very encouraging. Verdict has been signed to small record label called Black Ice Records and is also planning to release his tracks on his own 'The Mastermind Records' which has already had 2 releases.
Music has always been a big influence in Verdicts life style; he has always had a love for many different types music. Drum and bass came to him naturally as he was presented by people involved in the industry. Such as his cousin Laurence for example who set up jungleravers.com which was a successful drum and bass site which won many awards. He has plans to relaunch this in the future. Verdict couldn't help getting into it from an early age being influence by his older brother (DJ ZERA) who had a set of Technic 1210's and a small record collection of old skool garage and drum and bass. He began mixing on these until he bought his own set of 1200's whilst steadily building up his own precious record collection. He managed to pick it up very quickly and people knew he had the ear for it. Verdict also began work at an early age for Jungleravers.com where he met many people in the industry whilst managing the company alongside his cousin.
After receiving positive feedback from mixing at house parties and local field parties he got offered his first set at an event; he impressed people and has been encouraged ever since, from then he got in contact with many promoters, sent out demo's and DJed on a few local pirate radio stations. He is constantly building up his reputation and contacts as much as possible and started to get recognised by certain people in the industry for his mixing abilities. He has performed on over 7 different radio stations during 3 - 4 years around the London area. The best station he obtained a set on was the infamous Lifefm where he played a prime time set for over a year. Sadly he had to leave this station when he moved to Southampton to study his music production degree. Having been producing since the age of 16, Verdict has always known production is the way forward and is now at the level where he plays out his tracks regulary.
Verdict got mentioned in the January 2006 edition of the famous Knowledge magazine for his set in a club in Camden. All these small achievements encouraged him to keep going and doing what he loves. Verdict has always had high ambitions and is aiming for the top of the ladder with one of his dreams/goals to obtain a set on a major radio station such as BBC 1 Xtra, Radio 1 or Kiss 100.
Verdicts mixing style is very upfront dance floor orientated. His sets are very technical, smooth, energy rich and creative. His performances could be described as a musical journey building up just at the right points, intriguing the dancers with his crisp up to date tune selection and double drops. He has never pigeon holed him self to playing one style. In clubs he always gets a good response with a some his mixes getting cheered on to be rewounded only to be done again with the same response.
As he has such a love for the music he has collected many different genres of DnB ranging from old school, liquid, ragga, tech step to dark jump up. He found his preferred style to play out is upfront rolling jump up but there is always a variation in his sets. Luckily Verdict gets sent music so he is always up to date with tunes and knowledge of how DnB is developing. Now he has the experience and confidence of over 60 different rave events his talent is really shining through. You'll always see him bouncing behind the decks loving every moment.
Verdict has performed a tight DJ/MC partnership with the legendary MC Flux. Their styles seem to bounce off each other effortlessly. As Flux said to him once 'The MC is there To complement the music not the other way round.' This really works with his style of mixing and together they are truly unstoppable.
Influences
Verdict has had many influences from in and out of the DnB scene; he is a lover of music in general. Verdict describes DnB as just a tempo and feels that this tempo can bring in elements of any style of music, this allows inspiration to come from any other genre of music, not just DnB it’s self. He emphasizes this in his producing.
VERDICTS COMPANIES
Verdict is in the process of relaunching The Mastermind Records. They've already had two releases in the past and they have already signed a few new artists to it but is not in any rush. The label is doing a lot of planning and research as it will be a very organised professional and complex business once fully up and running again. The label is also doing night club events to promote the labels status.
Verdict has also been working hard organizing his own events under the name Jungle Instinct. These events have been held in London and Southampton and are still going strong booking top dnb acts to perform.
Verdict was also apart of the JR Management team and also plans to relaunch this company after he finished his Music Production Degree.
