People say that true rock music is dead -- that the only thing being released nowadays is pop, indie, and hip-hop. People also say that mayonnaise belongs on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We call these people Canadians, and we call them wrong.
Rock music is alive and well in Chicago, and to see for yourself all you have to do is check out Run Logan. This four-piece outfit with roots in NY has been on the Chi-town scene for over three years, playing what can only be described as balls-out, straight-ahead rock music. Three delightful years of paying their dues, with shows at local staples such as The Note, Beat Kitchen, Subterranean, and Elbo Room. They're a band that gigs regularly, and for good reason: Run Logan rocks live. It's an energy and an experience that you don't want to miss.
This has also been a time in which they recorded an EP, and are in the midst of riding the wave of glory brought upon by their latest single "Walk", both of which are self-released. Adding that to their full discography, you'll end up with 2 EPs, one full length album, one double album, and various singles. Although they're in the midst of looking for that perfect label, Run Logan has found it best to keep everything in-house for the time being. They work hard, don't compromise, and do everything from shows to CDs on their own terms.
And if you're wondering about the band name, don't ask John or Ryan... it's a heartbreaking story involving a monkey with a lawn dart and a goat-riding gnome... and that's all you'll ever know.
