My date of birth is July 7th,1996.My family was told I raced on the tracks in Florida. I was rescued by the Greyhound Friends of North Carolina. They helped me find my forever home. Being retired I now have lazy days of just hanging out with my forever family and running as fast as I can in my fenced in front yard (when the spirit moves me!).I have met so many wonderful retired racing greyhounds here on MySpace that were fortunate enough to meet the special person or persons who took them home. These greys are now living the life!! I hope that you will consider adopting a retired racing greyhound. There are so many that need loving forever homes. My life is so good and I am very, very thankful.*************Now it's my turn!! Hi. I'm Samurai the Gentle. My racing name was Santa Fe Nitro. I raced for three years in the Naples/Ft.Myers area. I ran in 125 races and won my share! I was rescued one day before I was scheduled to be killed by a loving lady named Brigitte with Joey's Greyhound Friends. My foster mother Dorothy taught me about love and respect. I didn't get any of that at the track. But now I am at my forever loving home thanks in big part to the fantastic crew at Freedom Run: Lee, Sally and Debby!! I owe you all big time. Lee you made Mommy believe it could be possible and for that I will be eternally grateful. We would like to introduce our new wee sister: Tia. She is a tiny brindle chihuahua born on November 27th, 2007. When we got her she weighed 1 pound. She is fun and we love sniffing her! She thinks we are the greytest!! It is a good thing we don't have a high prey drive. We love her and in no time we are sure she will be the Diva of the household and bossing us around!!!

My Interests

Well, ummmmm let's see. What do we like?? What do we love??? Well.......Sleeping. Resting. Relaxing. Stretching. Thinking about food. Eating food. Running. Hiding under the branches of our weeping cherry tree in the front yard and watching stuff. We especially love playing with all our many, many toys! They are all put in a large bin and it is such fun taking them all out and inspecting them everyday! When we play with our toys our family remarks on how I play like a puppy not the senior that I am . Samurai will help to keep me young!! But I am young at heart and I guess it shows. Another thing I love is lying out on our deck in the sun. That feels so good on my 'ol bones. That's the life! I am going to enjoy teaching Samurai all about retirement and its joys!! Smaurai says he wants one and all to know that he loves Bella!!! Bella sent him this pic that Lee from Freedom Run made for them!!! So now all our friends can see how greyt we would look together!!! Samurai says love in retirement is a wonderful thing!!!! ************************************************************ ***************************************************We are interested in helping others!! We appreciate the people that made the video news report that is above this section. Check it out. It's the real skinny on what happens to alot of us racers. We are two of the lucky ones - as are my greyhound friends that we have met here on MySpace. Now for the fun part: We like meeting new people.We love it when people come by the house for a visit.And we love eating! Did we mention that? All types of people food interests us. We are lean and fit so we don't have to worry about putting on weight. Just a few runs around the yard will get us a great shape again. We sure do enjoy meeting new friends here on MySpace. We just love music....if for no other reason than watching Mommy "bop" around when she is listening to it! Mommy pretty much loves all kinds of music!! So I guess we do too!! Movies:

Created by Crazyprofile.com We like to sleep during movies. Come to think of it we like to sleep most of the time. My crate (TT) is very cozy, as is my overstuffed pillow in the living room. So when my family are watching movies I'm usually slumbering or trying to convince someone to give me a bite to eat!! I'm sure Samurai will work out his favorites pretty soon too! Samurai the Gentle says:" Good grief!! Who wants to watch movies if you can be outside enjoying the fresh air, and spying stuff, and lazing in the soft green grass, enjoying the feel so cool rain in your face and on your body....digging in the black dirt is a favorite passtime while outside. There is so much to explore and enjoy after those years in a crate at the track. No movies or tv for me!!! Just please let me go outside!!! ROOOOOO!!!! ROOOOOOOO!"

Television:

We are not big on TV but our human loves Project Runway. Actually the whole family loves the show The Deadliest Catch! And we thought racing was hard!!Greys Anatomy is pretty interesting. From time to time we like watching bunnies on TV. Brings back memories of the track.

Heroes:

Our human who rescued us and brought us to our forever home!Samurai's special hero's are Brigitte from Joey's Greyhound Friends who rescued him one day before he was to be killed; his foster Mommy Dorothy who taught him first about love and respect and Freedom Run who helped get Samurai up to his forever home!!
