Our Mission:
The Greyhound Gang of Florida's mission is to find adoptive homes for retired racing greyhounds. 100% of all donations go to the medical treatment and educating the public on what wonderful pets these dogs make.
The Greyhound Gang of Florida is a not-for-profit organization from Tampa, Florida founded in 2001. We are comprised of 100% volunteers, dedicated to the rescue and adoption of retired racing greyhounds.
When the greyhounds come to the Greyhound Gang of Florida, they are first taken to a veterinarian. The dogs are spayed or neutered, they receive their vaccinations and a physical exam. The physical exam will determine if the dog requires further treatment, such as surgery or repair of a broken leg.
Once the dogs return from the vet, the dogs are placed in appropriate foster homes where they remain until they are adopted. Foster families are an important part of our organization, making the transition from the race track to home life a smooth one. The families welcome the new dog into their homes as their own. The foster families prepare the dogs for their new homes by housebreaking, socialization and even teaching them simple tasks such as walking up and down stairs.
We handle greyhound adoptions in the Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Polk, Manatee, and Sarasota counties). If you are in another area we recommend that you visit www.adopt-a-greyhound.org for listings of adoption groups in your area.
