I am here for Friends

About Me

First and foremost, I am the 41 year old mother of a 16 year old beautiful and smart young lady of whom I love very much and I am very proud of. I love you Hilary! You are my sunshine!!!Second, I set up MySpace to share my love for GREYHOUNDS! Yes, the dogs of the Egyptian days that was considered to be royalty and would be buried with their owners. Now they are treated like commodities and killed when they are of no use anymore. They're the most awesome companions with WONDERFUL dispositions and a forgiving love even after their life on the race track. Some never make it as far as the track. Even when life has been so cruel to them they have a heart to open up and trust anyone who is willing to love them back. Anyone who reads this, I would ask of you to go to the website GREYHOUNDRESCUE.ORG. Look at these beautiful animals, see what loving personalities they have and see if you would open your heart and home to one (or 2 or more) of these beautiful animals. On average 30,000 to 40,000 of these dogs are killed each year. Used as shark bait because they have no body fat and most can't swim they drown, if they don't suffer that kind of cruel death the others that are not lucky to be sent to a rescue organization are shot in the head and buried in mass graves at Kill Farms. Yes, that's what I said, Kill Farms! This is my story: My 1st rescue was a beautiful red fawn with a white tuxedo and white socks. Her race name was "Where's Unvail" aka Trina. Eight months after I adopted her I took her to the vet for a dental cleaning...4 hours after the procedure she died standing up. I had a post mortum procedure done and it came back that the left ventricle and the left AV valve of her heart was bad. I had her cremated and she sits on my entertainmet center with her picture. She was a beauty! My heart was broken so....about 10 days later my 2nd rescue ran straight into my heart. She was sent to a kill farm in Oklahoma but the Greyhound Rescue Foundation saved her life. Her name is Tinker. Tinker never raced because she has a birth defect in her left rear leg, it's shorter than her other legs but not noticable to the average person. Her birthday is in July, She is 7 years old. My 3rd rescue came from Pensa Cola Florida. She was retired on May 19th 2006, she was supposed to be my foster and guess what...it happened again. I fell in love with her. She and some other Greyhounds were taken to Knoxville TN. I drove to Knoxville and picked her up that evening at the founders house of the GRFTN. And now she has a loving home with her 'sister'. Her birthday was in February. She turned 6 years old. I hope I've given enough info to peak your curiousity. These hounds need homes. Once you have one you will realize you need them too. Go to GREYHOUNDRESCUE.ORG and check 'em out.
