The album to drop on 2nd October 2006: What You Waited Years For.
To your show, 206collab will bring: Jah freakin' Party.
The 206Collab have been rocking shows since 2002, when they started as regulars at venues in North Sydney, notably the Nufunc open mic and battle nights (RIP) at Greenwood Hotel. The crew expanded out into the Australian scene from 2003 onwards, doing shows at Sydney venues such as The Globe (cheers Laura swamp donkey), The Gaelic Club, @Newtown, The Lansdowne Hotel (GPS where's our money...), Bar Broadway, The Hopetoun, Abercrombie, Excelcior and UNSW Roundhouse, and in Melbourne at Hi-Fi Bar and DJ Peril's Bliss Lounge. 206Collab have played alongside a range of Australian groups and artists including Koolism, 2Up, Bliss n Eso, Brethren, Overproof, The Herd, Fizard, Maya Jupiter and DJ Flagrant (where dat beat at mang?!), as well as playing support for infamous UK beatboxer Killa Kela on his Australian tour. Having focused on their live performance for a number of years, 206Collab are now truly ready to send their recorded produce out for the world to hear.
What You Waited Years For is being released through Creative Vibes on 2nd October 2006. The album has been mixed and mastered by IFA, Battletown and Fizard veteran Weapon X, who has released the acclaimed Nodfather compilation and the Sneakerpimpin Aint Easy LP with Ken Hell in recent years. The album artwork is courtesy of James McCallum, eccentric illustrator, crazed animator and CG artist for Disney and Animal Logic. What You Waited Years For features an array of Australian talent on production, including Melbourne artists Weapon X and Aux One (aka Melbourne Tim), Sydneys Rookie Productions, Fame (aka Chewbacca) and Standard Issue, and 206s own JPlatnum (aka Kalam Mekhar). Musically, the albums tracks travel through a diversity of moods, from the funky, energetic vibes of Too Oh Six, A Flagrant Affair and You Dont Know, through the harder-hitting Deadly Concoction and Tough Justice, to the softer, reflective ambience of Below the Surface, which features the harmonies of female singer Tiff (and an ill JPlatnum beat...).
206Collab are planning a heavy launch schedule for their debut release. Check this space for further details. Eno, JPlatnum, FlipnSkip and Shamrock are four artists with a passion for performing and sharing their sound with music lovers everywhere. This is what you waited years for.
