The Preps are a fast-paced punk rock band hailing from North Eastern Pennsylvania. Since their formation they have played their fair share of high profile shows at such famed clubs as CBGB’s, The Black Cat, The Continental, Hard Rock Café, and The Electric Factory.
They have also appeared on the Van’s Warped Tour in both 2004 and 2005. The 2005 show was also recorded and aired as a summer special on Fox 5 Television’s “The Underground TVâ€. The Preps have been interviewed for various newspapers along with several rave reviews of their live show. With tours on both the East and West Coast, they have shared the stage with such acts as The Bouncing Souls, Flogging Molly, Bad Religion, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Vibrators, The Queers, The Casualties, Catch 22, Less Than Jake, Bowling for Soup, Yellowcard, and many more.
Through the years The Preps have been featured on many compilations such as: “What’d You Expect for Free, Vol XIIIâ€, “The Salvation Theory, Vol. 1â€,â€35 Miles to Nowhere Vol. 1â€, “You’d be a Fool Not To, Vol. 1â€, “Turkey Vulture Records: The Harder, The Better, Vol. 10â€, and “Lehigh Valley: Punk Rock Rallyâ€.
The Preps have recorded a slue of albums and appeared on numerous compilations under the Fool Records label, which was formed by Fat Lou and IHG. In 1998, they recorded the never released “MIA Album†and in 1999 they recorded their first full-length album entitled “Hot Coffee, Cold Shouldersâ€. After a short break, The Preps were back strong in 2001 with “The Imposters Strike Backâ€, which was followed by a live album, “The Drinking EPâ€. The live album featured some of their old material and is dedicated to their favorite pastime. In 2005, after much time in the studio, The Preps put out “A New Beginningâ€. In 2008, the long awaited album “86’d†was released worldwide. To promote the new CD The Preps have added many new venues to their touring schedule.
The last year has been very productive and groundbreaking for The Preps. On their newest record, they revolutionized their sound and emphasizing what it means to rock. Many years ago they coined the phrase, “We are here to Rock!â€, so when they open with that phrase you know that’s exactly what they’ll do.
