X-TA-C 4x4: Selectors- Marky G, Zylo M.C- Yardie K
..X-TA-C 4x4 are from Birmingham, England and began our journey in 1995 playing on local community radio stations such as Sting FM, Kriss FM, Passion FM (now Hot 92 FM) and have been juggling around the country, building a strong reputation and fan-base ever since. We are renowned and regarded as a consistent, competent, skilful and overall entertaining sound that rarely fails to please a crowd. We first entered the battlefield in 2000 against a few local Birmingham sounds but had our first major clash in 2002. It was billed as a 1 on 1 sound-clash, against a new up & coming Birmingham sound, Immortal (then Immortal Injection). It was an event not to be missed and is still regarded as a legendary dance in the west midlands. Later on in our career, we faced sounds such as Apocalypse and Sheffields Willpowa, but continued to grow and maintain ourselves as a juggling sound, gathering booking around the country.
In October 2005, we decided to embark on a mission to propel the sound to the forefront of the dancehall industry, and began by winning the UK premier league cup clash. This was against 5 other Midlands based sound-systems: Defending Champions Jahman Nuclear (from Wolverhampton), Expressions (from Northampton), Natural Affair (from Telford) and Rockers Roadshow (also from Bham). After trailing 4-1 in dub fi dub against Jahman Nuclear, X-TA-C showed great resilience and turned the result around to a 6-4 victory which propelled them to the winner takes all final in London.
03.12.05 was the Winner Takes All final, held at the Tudor Rose in Southall. We were up against the UKs champions from around the country. Defending champions Immortal (from Birmingham), Londons champion Control Tower, East Anglian champions Sovereign Roadshow (from Luton), Northern champions Little Sample (from Huddersfield) and 2004 runners up King Tubbys (from London). After 3 entertaining rounds and a few controversial disqualifications X-TA-C were in the dub fi dub round; going ten tunes each against King Tubbys. An epic dub-plate battle ensued and eventually X-TA-C was once again victorious with another comeback from losing 5-1, to winning 6-5.
X-TA-C 4x4 had completed the first part of our mission by becoming the UKs number 1 sound and qualifying to compete in the UK Cup Clash 2006.
We continue to grow as professionals in both juggling and clashing and as broadcasters on the radio.
We are now on the journey to international recognition and aim to be regarded with the likes of other international sounds/Selectors such as Bass Odyssey, Stone Love, Mighty Crown, Tony Matterhorn etc.
